We have been having a wonderful time in Washington state, with family but also doing our daily geocaching.
In a few days we'll be going home. I don't miss home. My family is giving us such a wonderful time. I'd forgotten what it's like to laugh uncontrollably.
1. Remember how our trip began, back to our family reunion on the beach where I contracted laryngytis and associated thrush? And went ot the urgent care clinic (uninsured bill: 350$) to which they told me to wait it out, it's viral, so we spent 4 days in a dark, max-ed AC hotel in Shelton, rather than my dad's home, we didn't want to worry him about Covid. And we were plenty worried about Covid.
2. Right now my right foot is red because I just took it out of the ice bucket. Two nights ago at my sister's place in Bellevue I tripped on their outdoor stairs and tumbled to the ground. It's not so bad, but today when I took off my sock at my mom's request, it was turning purple! The toes and the ankle. It's not so bad when I don't move it or if I walk on even ground. Geocaching is very hard.
3. Two days ago J and I indulged (again) in Indian food with my sister and her kids. 10 minutes into the appetizers I broke out in a rash, and then burning hives all over my arms. I've never had hives in my life. And I"m not giving up Inidan food, so....could it have been an insect? I know hives can be caused by countless things, but it was my first experience with it, it wasn't nice.
2 hours later and 1 Benadryl (thank my sister!) I was fine. But for the record, I went caching with red burning bumps all over the inside of my arms and palms, and two days later I went caching with this purple foot.
I'm the most devoted geocaching wife ever.
OK, back to my ice bucket: )

Wow you are definitely getting a range of afflictions! I hope to see giant redwoods one day
Pay attention to the ingredients that triggered your hives, my friend. They are an early indicator. I say that as a person who has a LOT of allergies, and have learned which things will trigger enormous reactions if I ignore them, and which just require an extra Benedryl (we buy Benedryl in bulk, because I rely on them for so many things).
I hope to see you next time you're here!
Teresa, Thanks for following this splotchy telling of our vacation. I'll get to all of it on arrival back home. For now I don't have spare moments.
Aarene, I didn't know you suffered allergies. What are hives an early indicator of? I've eaten papadam with tamarind and mint chutney so often, but, they could have done it differently in Redmond that day. I cannot imagine taking more than one Benadryl - and thankfully I have some back home in Germany. Funnily, you came up during this experience. Remember when J was caching while we were riding and I took For-Ever to get J to a pharmacy cuz he was stung by a bee. He told me this week, "Remember Aarene telling you that my swollen arm meant something, and you should take care of me, and you just cared about the horse?" I will never live that down. *sigh* bad wife.
