Mag's biggest fan

Hartmut still walks by every day at 3:30. The other day I looked out my window and saw him picking grass by the handfull and giving it to Mag over the fence. So sweet. I remember the blisters on my hands as a child from doing this.

Today I continued my traffic training 101 with Mag where I simply take him onto our street and hand graze him and let the traffic go by. It was a good day, apparently, cuz a motorcycle zoomed by us and he didn't react.

Then we ran into Hartmut who was over the moon to get to touch Mag after so long. He told me to let him eat this grass, here, the kind he likes, and he told Mag to slow down, there's enough. *chuckle* He looked me in the eye and said again "You have afforded me a great pleasure, today. I will tell my wife about it!" He also said, "He knows, your horse knows what he means to me." I'm certain of that!

If you look carefully you'll see I have two lead ropes in my hands. One is brown and one is black. Yes, I had both Mag and Bellis while my friends  talked to the neighbors. I was wondering why I looked so annoyed in the photo.

Nadine and her riding buddy just rode by on their Arabians. I saw them leave the barn across the street this morning. They've been out 6 hours. I remember riding like that.

The girl who rides Nordic, the gorgeous grey Arabian, often rides hands free as she stares at her phone. Today while a car was passing. How nice it is to have absolute trust in a horse. Nordic and Nevio were old when I moved in here 12 years ago. Ah, old horses: )

PS she also is one of the 25% of riders who ride by my house and nudge/kick their horses with every stride. Some even use the spur, every stride, just walking up my street. I so want to stop them and say, "What would happen if you left your heels OFF of your horse as you rode along?" Just curious! They're not doing dressage out there, they're checking their phones and kicking away. How odd.

But if you remember 8 years ago, Nadine took me on my first trail ride with my new mare Mara. She promised to take care of me. And then she went cantering off into the hills, leaving us. Seriously. She shouted HALLO to me today, so no hard feelings?

I'm so thankful for what I have. My dream come true, this gorgeous farm. Taking care of it is indeed a full time job but Mag makes me laugh almost daily.

Yesterday my husband wanted to bring some of the wood from our fallen plum tree to a neighbor, because it was too dense for our splitter. He left the wheelbarrow on 72 and I said, "J!!!!! Don't leave the wheelbarrow where the horse can get it!" Indeed, Mag was zooming in on his target (*Jaws music*) and J was confused but I said, "He's had his eye on it every since we bought it last year; he wants to chew the rubber handles off!" J ran over and beat Mag to it and it was saved. But it's only a matter of time, before Mag destoys yet another wheelbarrow. (He also runs directly into them in mad gallops, our last one had this happen 3 times.)

Today I turned around and Mag had the hose in his mouth. Again. He has in the past, sprayed me, but he got himself too, so that was funny.

I love this horse so much. Not riding is painful for me, but ....have you ever had a dog who thought you were its God? I had that once. Mag may be fractious for people, not even letting anyone but me ride him, but he treats me with so much respect and courtesy it blows me away. In that way he's just like Baasha, or my GSD Terah.

If I ever get to move back to America, it will be on a 747 cargo plane in the box with Mag.

Who stops for Tupperware.

Awww that is special about Hartmut getting to pet Mag and how it made his day. Horses are such a special gift to people, it's too bad so many take them for granted.
Maybe it's a trait in the Arabian breed to be a one person horse?

Shirley, for my bday this week (50!) my photgrapher friend gave me a picture book called The Arabian Horse of Egypt. In it was a quote, "If you don't have a horse but your neighbor does, make a window in your wall so the blessings can come through to you too." Cute!

What a gift for Hazmut to have Mag to enjoy.

Teresa, I only wish Mag were calm and safe out there on the street, so that Hartmut could actually cuddle with him. Maybe soon: )
