I finally rode Mag today and of course he was all nerves, biting his reins and unable to just walk. My husband was with me and offered, "Just let him go." I replied, "Do you know how far he will go before this nonsense stops?"
I got off, threw the lead line at my husband, and let him lead Mag home, Which was fun to watch. It was just like the All Nations Cup at Aachen, Mag's champion sire prancing into the ring, tail over his back, neck as high as any neck can go. Mag was polite, but I think he imagined cheering in the trees as he danced along.
It was almost 10 PM as we arrived home and there was TP and her horrid Airedale terrier puppy. 3 years old still, still a biting, scratching, leaping puppy.
She was delighted to see us - DID YOU RIDE!? Yah. (less than 100 meters).
She stood on the lead of her bad dog to keep him from assaulting us, as my husband held the line of my restless, fretting horse.
We were HOME but Mag would not calm down.
TP updated me - she said she has several part time helpers doing her normal horse chores with Dakhin, her Arabian, and gardeners, cuz she's still working full time at T Mobile. She has about 10 boarders by now on her 2 acre farm - all grass-sensitive, or elderly horses who don't need pasture. Nice! It seems to be a co-op, where every horse owner cares for their own horse and so the work gets done on her tiny farm with a multitude of horses. Well done. But I sure miss the days when it was just TP and me at her place.
She said, "I rode Dakhin by your house last week! I hoped you'd come out, and be proud of me."
Proud of her, for riding by our house?
TP said, "I cannot ride out with you, cuz look, your horse is in no state of calm, and Dakhin will be infected by that and I cannot ride him like that."
(I'd ridden out with TP once so far,...once. And "crewed" for her at a horse show.)
She also repeated what I'd heard from other horse people, "Your horse needs you to run him into a sweat before you try to ride." Of course that is foolishness, even if I had a place to run him around.
My husband eventually let me take the lead line cuz Mag would not calm down, even though we were standing in our own driveway.
I let Mag say hello to her dog and it was adorable, Mag remembers the puppy from when it tried to chew off the chestnuts from his legs, and tried to chew off the stirrups from my saddle. I posted that video to my blog, it was shocking to me, that a horse would allow a dog to rip at it, with its teeth.
I told her how much Mag loves her dog, and the dog actually bit me when I got too close.
I said, "Is there anyone at your boarding facility who would be willing to go out with me and my horse?"
She said, "What about the barn across the street from you?"
Right.
I told her that in 2013 I was told they do not let outsiders into their barn/arena, even if I pay (which I did, up to that point).
TP wants my 7 Euros per arena visit, but she did not mention it. I think she knows I have had only bad experiences at her arena, Mag seems to think it's rodeo time there, and both Mag and I have been shocked by the electric wire that she used to make her arena and round pen with.
I have no idea if Ani still goes there for lessons, another awkward scenario, since Ani hate me with the fire of a thousand suns.
Anyway...I'll just keep trying and maybe I'll make another friend out there.

I know you’ve said that Germans are very direct but wow.
Mag is a sensitive horse with energy and presence.
Wow, with friends like that, who needs enemies. So terribly rude.
That sounds super rude. I am sorry that Mag seems at his worst when he doesn't have a buddy. My 21-year-old is like that on the trails, I also end up getting off and walking a lot with him, but I try to plan it so that I get back on at some point during the ride. I will say that with him, THANKFULLY, I can lunge him for 5 - 10 minutes if he is being particularly foolish. It helps him tune back into me. It also takes away the reward for acting up. I have no idea what the trails in Germany are like, but it stinks that you do not have a way to address this safely.
Teresa, thank you. You understand him.
Carmen, I know, I have like three friends and sometimes I don't like them.
Gina, thank you so much for your comment. I'm sorry you rhorse at 21 isn't easy. I keep looking forward to Mag turning 20. Honestly if I could lunge Mag, I would (but not to exhaust ehim like the neighbors suggest).
