it finally stopped. But it wasn't until evening so only the Christmas and street lights showed me how much worse it is than in these photos. I bet I'll have to do a snow update as soon as the sun comes up.
He put on 6 layers of clothes, and later a hat, and insisted on shovelling at midday even though as soon as he finished, he had to start right over as a fresh 2 inches lay where he worked. We took turns and wondered when the plows would come. He's right - shovelling knee high snow twice is easier than waiting til it stops.
"Can you feel your face?"
My poor little cypress bushes, I knocked the snow off of them but I couldn't keep up with it.
The old stall looks so cold with its concrete floor.
About 3/4 of the new stall's mats are trimmed and connected, but it got dark and very snowy Saturday before we could finish some edges, so we laid the extra pieces down and we'll secure them later.
I cannot wait to get the overhang roof on, because naturally Baasha spends a lot of time with his head hanging out, and I don't think his head was ever dry yesterday. I also want lights, but I'll suffer somehow til we can manage that part. It feels good to have him in his new place. He was nervous about it at first, I hope he learns to love it like his old stall.

He looks good in the new stall!
Wow thats a lot of snow, and but it looks so Christmassy now.
Omg that is a lot of snow! Love the pictures it looks gorgeous! Your man is smart i think shoveling half way is better. I remember shoveling cobblestone is a pain. Stay warm and drive safe.
Wow you got seriously dumped on! ours is turning to slush now..no more snow until maybe the end of the week. When are heading home for a visit? stay warm : )
Goodness, you've got just the same as us. We have drifts of five foot in places. Hope Baasha is snug and warm, he looks quite happy in his new stable. He'll soon get used to it.
Nice new stalls! That sure is a lot of snow - stay warm!
Brrrr! You got dumped on! Wow! Baasha sure looks cozy and protected in his nice stall, though.

I have to say, that stall is a lot warmer than his old one. The old one had a lot of drafts, you can imagine - one half open wall, and a doorway on the other side. I always feel drafts are better than stuffiness, but now we have a snug environment. In fact, this is the first couple of days that Baasha's water bucket is not frozen! Amazing, the new stall protects it from freezing over, I guess. Can't wait for lights. Holding a flashlight between my knees while I scoop poo is ridiculous. (Cuz I was too impatient for sunup.)
Lytha when I need to be wandering around out in the pastures after dark I have a miner's headlight thing - basically a light on a headband that you were around your forehead. It works great, I can see and both of my hands are free. Maybe you should try that instead of the flashlight between the knees?
Melissa, oh, I had that on first, but the dang thing broke on me, into several pieces on the ground as I was asking my man, "Is this thing broken!?"
That was when I was forced to hold a light between my knees. Which doesn't work, of course.
Lights, please, soon!!!!!!!!!!
I love the new stalls but the snow here is still to fresh in my mind to appreciate it there. That's just too much.
Basha looks content in his new digs. I'll bet it will be no time at all and he'll feel totally at home.
When are you heading this way??
Man that's a lot of snow...
lytha, I've got a headlamp to send home with you--remind me when you come visit this month!
The new stall is pretty. I'm so jealous.
That is a lot of snow. I like it when it is in that state you show where several inches can remain perched on a branch or wherever it lands. Nice pictures.
