In an effort to keep my blog real, like, a real diary, I post this horse. The horse who has been filling my head this Christmas day. He's from the same rescue, he's not in need of rescuing, so there's no urgency. I don't know anything about him at this point, besides what I can see in the photos.
I wrote them and hope I get good news back.
He even looks small for a Traber, look at that.
If he has a good temperament, is healthy, and is within my price range...
I wish I knew, but in order to be honest on this Christmas day, I post it anyway!
***
PS Did you catch the argyle socks on the rider? Like I said...
***
All my thanks today to the Creator who chose to make us accessible to him. Imagine..I cannot imagine moving around Baasha's hay and making a place for a baby.
And to those who give their time year after year go out of their way at this busy time to bring the reality of it to those who may appreciate it. My sister who worked so hard this year and my husband who practiced What Child is This and then performed it to our tears.

Merry Christmas from Wa!
LOVE the eye on that horse, he looks very wise and she is riding him bareback??
Wow, I don't know that I would even try that with my boy Cartman. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
He's lovely...and he's not grey!
Can't wait to hear more--is this the rescue that your neighbor works with, or a different group?
I like his eye, and his lovely ears/attitude. Want to know MORE!!!
Happy Merry, and best wishes for all y'all in the New Year!
wv: brago
would be a good name for a bay standie...sounds like a hobbit name! "Merriadoc Brandywine, Pippin Took, and Brago Proudfoot."
Merry Christmas from New Mexico.
He looks like a good horse to me.
Dan
cg, i never ride bareback due to the ouchie withers on baasha. thank you!
jeni, thanks and best to you as well.
aarene, he's so the perfect color. i don't see any white at all! he and fiddle could get married and raise their children in the shire...
i want to know more too. i should have called but i'm so insecure on the telephone hre, and it's christmas day.
he's so BAY. agh.
but i swear, if i ever have the chance to *name* a standardbred, it's gonna be something american.
cuz you know. america. my home. their home.
Dan and Betty, why thank you! i hope you had a wonderful day today. or, ..have? still, it's early i think.
aarene, i forgot to say yes it's the same rescue. not that i know much about it anyway, yet.
also, when i say "Bay, agh" i mean, "be still my heart." i think you know that though.
My fingers are super-extra-double-extreme crossed on behalf of you and this horse. LUCK!
You could name him "Sequim Puyallup Humptulips Gorst" so that you could immediately tell when people saying his name are Swamplanders... (Gorst isn't a bad barn name, it even sounds kinda German)
Merry Christmas!!
I found your blog through Aarene's...and love hearing about your adventures in Germany.
I, too, am I Standardbred lover. They have such great minds and one of the best work ethics I've ever seen in a horse.
Even a rare Standie that is more "nervous" then most (like mine) still has a pretty sensible brain :)
This guy you are looking at looks very sweet...and I agree with the others -- he has a kind eye. I definitely think you owe to yourself to check him out "in person" so-to-speak.... you might just be smitten the way I was when I met my guy!
Lots of luck...it sounds like whichever horse you choose will have a fantatic home :)
....and of course. Merry Christmas!!!!!
I may be biased, but I LOVE him!
I LOVE the look of that horse. I hope you get the news you want.
Merry Chirstmas!!
Oooh! He's so good looking! I have the urge to hug him...and you, too!
Merry Christmas from New Mexico!
~Lisa
I'm with you on the white horses (and I have 2 now...) and those gnarly socks.
It's not Xmas anymore. Did you call???
Merry Christmas!! He's cute! Keep us update please!
He is cute! Reminds me of my old mare Mickey. Being the same color and no white!!! LOL Similar head too!
I will be curious how his trot is for you. Some standards do have a rather rough trot and they often have to "learn" to canter. I've visited the New Vocations website many times. They are just too far away. (Ohio and I'm in Texas.)

This is another site to drool over

He is quite handsome :)
Well, I missed posting on Christmas, but it sounds like it was good.
What Child is This is one of my favorite carols. Just hearing that your hubby practiced and performed it made me feel teary!
Good luck with the Standardbred. Some day the right horse will be there for you - and you will know it!
Can't wait to hear more!
Sounds promising. Hope you hear back from them soon.
