We don't recommend you buy this horse

When I met Mag, the dealer did not want to sell him to me, based on the fact he'd reacted badly to other potential buyers. (He'd thrown them immediately.)

This is the mare I was told would be much more promising.

As good as she was, I don't even remember her name.

J told me, "Just take a look, you're not even looking at her!"

I only had eyes for Mag. Despite all the warnings.  I forced them to drag Mag out of his stall and saddle him up for me too. I did not want to waste my time on the mare, though she was fine.

Here he is grouchy, with the mare's tail in the foreground.

Please note the condition of his hooves - they tend toward this growth pattern and when we bought him, freshly trimmed, they looked like this as well. It's a continuing struggle.

Oh, that's Hana. Wrong HTML tag. Anyway, she's my top riding horse if I have the chance to ride in Seattle, so her photo stays: )

This mare went beautifully. I kept my eyes on Mag.

Mag is not easy, he never will be, I suspect. But I like him. I wish I could ask him about his life in Poland. His journey to Germany (cuz he's terrified of horse trailers). Where all the scars are from, one by one. What is the difference between being raised at a Polish state stud, vs being sold at auction to go to a German dealer.

I'll never know. Unless I get myself to Poland. Which I intend to. Someday.

I could have bought that lovely, tractable mare above. But I couldn't stop thinking about this Pustynny Mag.

I refuse to think of should’ves, could’ves & would’ves. I’d be exhausted!

Life is short. You followed your heart.
Mag follows yours.

BTW that mare looks chunky with that big fat neck. Is she pure? Seems maybe part arab, part QH or plow horse.

Hana waves "hello!"

I wanted a small, sweet, sensible standardbred. God sent the Dragon. I could have sent her back...but no, she is so much MY HORSE. God is no dummy.

I think you understood horses better than they. I have a hard time watching that guy ride. He doesn't look like much of a horseman. That mare probably had her own set of issues. Mag for the win!

Well, you know me :-) I'd have gone with the mare... But Mag has her in the looks department! :-) You've done wonders with him & he's still young!

Sometimes you just *know*. It was that way with my horse and I too.

Funny how our emotions get in the way. I kinda like him too and he seems to work out well for you too
