Here is a video of one of the best things I saw yesterday. I wish my camera could show how gorgeous the background screen was, it looked like a real photo of the Rocky Mountains with computer effects added in for a watery foreground, and the Northern Lights.
Near the end the announcer says, "Once in a lifetime, to be as free as a horse" and the audience laughed. Still not sure whether that was planned. You'll also hear Ani commenting on how amazing it was, we were both blown away.
More later!

Beautiful! Ive seen a similar video with the flowing tarps over a dressage horse before. Tristan Tucker?
It reminds us to keep working on those tarps.
On another note, have you seem Cavalia? They put on a great show of visuals, riding and liberty.
ND, I saw F Pignon at Equitana the firs time I was there, he was just showing his new Fresian a crowd. I did see Cavalia with Pignon in 2007! It was the best. Now it's turned into a more "Appasionata" event, where there is more dancing and tricks than riding/liberty. Sadly Pignon is no longer involved with Cavalia. But my favorite parts were the liberty bits! Like a lady and her horse, loose, exploring a pond together. Yah, they made a pond on stage.
Oh, that was just stunning. It brought tears to my eyes. So glad you got to see it, and gladder still that you shared it with us!
Okay, so WAS there a "magic trick" where they covered up the horse/rider and when they uncovered there was no saddle? Or was the guy riding with a white saddle pad and I imagined the saddle?
When the horse was running around loose, I thought, "this is the part they've scripted to let him be naughty, and then he will come back to the handler," and yes. That's what happened. Made me laugh.
Very impressive, visually, but not something I would be willing to pay for--perhaps I'm jaded. Glad you and Ani got to go and have fun!
Aarene, if you look, one of the tarp-corner guys went in and got/carried out the saddle and bridle.
Thanks, Laurie! I see it now. Glad I'm not imagining tack, that would be silly.
So fun to see! But that tail is telling...
