Mag's brother for sale

The same dealer that sold me Mag has his brother up for sale now. I find it interesting how they market their horses, all with nearly the same exact description in their advertisements, though they sell dozens of Arabians every year. (Mag's ad did include the clause, "Needs to get to know you first, before he can trust you." )

*sigh*

Mag's big brother is 1 year older and 8 cm taller (158). Too tall for me.

His brother shows the same lack of forward in the arena, with the same trick of putting his chin between his knees as he trots. The rider spent a lot of energy getting him to keep moving, and popped him in the mouth to discourage that ducking under.

This horse is 2K Euros more than Mag, and if I were rich, I'd buy him just to have a stable full of Mag's family. Cuz I hope you see I love Mag.

Here is his ad, with 4 videos: https://www.ehorses.de/vollblutaraber-wallach-8jahre-158-cm-schimmel-freizeitpferd-westernpferd-distanzpferd-herzberg-am-harz/1445599.html

If you cannot reach the ad/video, below are some photos, and his description, that is exactly the same as Mag's although Mag was suffering from a lung infection and covered in scars including a permanent splint injury. So when each ad says "healthy and without flaw" they are lying.

"Ermelo" is a strong, large-framed and correct chic gelding. He is ridden in the track (arena) and in the field and is very straightforward, both in handling and under the saddle. Ermelo is given out due to lack of time, is in our commission and can be visited here. He lives with us in the herd and is well socialized. Healthy and without mistakes, vaccinated, dewormed and with paper / equine passport.

I have bad feelings about these dealers, but I wanted Mag, and I'm happy to have him. (I never let a seller's personality affect me in buying a horse. In my experience, they are either liars (dealers) or disillusioned (breeders).) They did not reduce his price at all although we spent a lot of money on veterinary procedures (endoscopes) and meds to make him well enough to travel. The dealer insisted he just had a cold.

Anyway, his brother Ermelo is pretty cool, so I wanted to show him here. Same left-side mane, same right-side pink nose, same lazy attitude in the arena. I hope you click the ad before he's sold and it disappears.

They are clever. They get young Arabians in from Poland, and mount them in their stalls. Then they move to the arena, and shortly after, take them out in the company of an experienced horse, following along, so they can get these awesome photos of these young horses being compliantly ridden slowly through the fields. Very good job with that marketing. When we met Mag we took him to this spot and he acted as if it was his second time total being outside. Our first visit we just led him, that was challenging enough. Our second visit I rode, and he was OK, but barn sour.

In these photos the rider is doing what I do, what I call "riding the clutch" - you want to give your reins, but you want to have brakes, so you stretch your arms forward in a compromise position.

Mag's brother is a very nice looking guy! Are they out of the same dam? Since Mag's registered name starts with a "P", I believe his dam's name would have to also start with a "P" because the foals are typically named with the first letter of the dam. Are they half-brother's perhaps?

Niner, crap, you're one of the smarties who knows things. You're right. But close on both sides. Poganin is the sire and dam side: Eukaliptus/ / Monogramm: )

Update: I just tried to outrun Mag and failed.

I spotted him in the far side of the grazing strips and I observed happily as he grazed, and then he spotted me. I ran full speed toward home, and I was much closer, and suddenly he was breathing on my neck in full trot. OK then. You win. I went to the house for his carrot, because they both know when we buy carrots and today was the day.

Very handsome indeed!
Haflinger colts are named with first initial of sires name, fillies first initial of dam. So Momo and Camryn would've both come from the M sire line.

I like the movement of this horse. So he is about 15 HH. At least she wasn't constantly kicking him, and he seemed forward enough. I wish there had been more video, and I would have liked to have seen his canter. Her outstretched arms did bug me, although she wasn't hanging on his mouth. Of course there is such a thing as a following hand, but I kept wanting her to sit up straight and ask him to come into her hand and start to carry himself.

Haha I bet Mag did catch up with you! The carrots call!

Ok, I see what you mean. The first couple of times I watched it, it was buffering a lot and I didn't see what you were talking about, but when I went back and watched it again, I did see her working more to keep him forward and the (ugh) hand pop. I can see this lack of forward as due maybe to greenness, and maybe he isn't too encouraged by those hand pops on the bit. I don't blame a horse for ducking when they are punished. Greenness to the bit does take patience and many requests, but the popping is the wrong way to do it. :( Yeah, I wish I could get him too to school him properly. Maguire was 4 when I got him, had done an endurance race but basically had little understanding of the bit and certainly no half halt. By the time I sold him, he was much more educated and carrying himself nice. S*** I wish I hadn't sold that horse.

Mag' brother is very handsome, but not more so than your beautiful Mag. He does look like a sturdy strong horse, and I hope he ends up in a wonderful home. I wish he was closeby and you could go and have a ride on him (just for fun!).

Finally got the videos to load (the ad for fancy boots was interesting...the boots are beautiful but their model does not ride well!)

I see a GREEN horse with loads of potential. He's nicely put together. Maybe a bit spoiled? And yes, the rider had to push push push to keep the trot moving forward.

But srsly? He isn't any nicer than Mag!

KB, there were four videos (I didn't notice at first cuz it looks like there's only 1). There is some canter but the horse cannot even hold it for one circle.

Aarene, not sure what you meant about the ad - I have ad blocker so maybe that's why I didn't see it. I'm glad you think he's as nice as Mag.

There is a horse trader near me that posts gorgeous horses all the time. Yet every single ad reads the exact same. It makes me very nervous as obviously not every horse is the same and who knows what you will end up with. I wish they wouldn’t do that
