I was happy to get some photos of Mell riding. I like the first one best, and the look of concentration on Mara. Mell said that Mara always reacts with "No" first - saying always, "This is difficult, so, no." But then she tries a bit and then gets her reward.

I do like the eye - you can see how hard Mara's trying, now that she knows there will be a reward for that work.

Mara IS trying.
And that "no" attitude, I know it well. When Fee was younger, her answer to all new stuff was "F**** NO, you can't make me, you're not big enough."
Now it's much easier. But then, "now" comes after 7+ years of proving to her that I am, in fact, big enough.
I think Mara isn't nearly as stubborn as Fee was. She seems to genuinely like people (Fiddle didn't), and want to please them (Fiddle definitely didn't). So I'll bet you make better progress with her. Maybe not as fast as you want, but good progress is better than fast progress, right?
