Sunday!?!?!

I’m in shock, can you imagine, after 2 years almost every day looking at the online horse market, and driving all over kingdom come, that my search might end.

Should end, will end? I’ll believe it when I see the horse arrive at my house.

My mind is running crazily, I am somewhat euphoric, I’m worrying a bit, and I don’t think I’ll be able to be my most productive at work these next two days. Mostly I’m in awe.

**

I was at Aldi and I called my man to see if he needed anything. As we were talking he casually said, “Would you like to pay 200E for the horse’s delivery?”

I was like*, “What, stop – what did you say?”

He said, “I got a call from the mare’s owner and she wants to deliver the horse on Sunday and would like to know if you agree to paying 200 plus gas.”

“I, uh, Sunday, I, what, too soon, slow down, I need to …wait.”

He said, “I told her Sunday would be great because you’ve waited long enough for a horse.”

“But it’s so muddy, and the grass has just started…I wanted to lay down gravel on that muddy spot…”

Then I realized I was being vain, and that it can rain in August and cause mud, and actually, by Sunday the cherry trees will be blooming and it will be glorious, the owner can carry that impression in her mind when she leaves.

I had been anxious about the thought of bringing a horse home with frozen mud which could twist or break a leg, but I think that risk is gone now.

**

I called the owner and she told me the mare passed her pre-purchase exam, and the vet only noted one problem, an “Ueberbein” which is an injury of the cannon bone or splint, I’m not sure,  I have to research more. I panicked when I looked up “Ueberbein” and it seemed to describe arthritis. And I saw nothing on her legs, but perhaps it’s something you can feel and not see.  The vet says it’s just a blemish.

I can’t believe this.

I need to take some time off work so I can just spend time with the mare the first few days.

**

I need a name. I was hoping to see her papers for ideas but that might not work out, so I’m back to brainstorming. I cannot give her my favorite, secret name because that name goes with an exotic Arabian. I cannot call her by her name, which is just stupid. For now my top choice for her is Marah, because I like two-syllable names with a sounds, and no horse that I know has this name (except for one of Baasha’s relatives, a tiny black mare). I also like Talia, Dania, or Sienna (though I don’t really like color names, I haven’t seen this one used before).

I woke up this morning and my first thought was, “Something happ—OMGosh. Horse. HORSE.”

Yeah! HORSE!
I'm sorta partial to "Sienna" but only because my daughter recently lost her lovely old red-chocolate lab by that name.

I'm Crying For Joy...And For The Fact, Your Man Is Awesome.

How Excitingly/Terrifying!
And Mostly Wonderful....Of Course, Time Off To Just Be With Her!

Funny,I Just Looked At An Old Post Headed"Totally My Fault"...After A Trailer Incident In Which I Failed To Wrap Was Legs, And A Horse Stepped On Her Splint Bone. It Was Not Fractured...And Of They Are, They Must Be Removed Most Times. But Hers Was Not. My Sisters Mare Has An Old Injury On The Splint BonE Too....Totally Doesn't Impair Her, So The Very Said," No Worries Unless Her Gait Changes, And There Is Heat/ Swelling.

Your Mare( "YOUR MARE") Sounds Life She'll B Fine Too!!!

Let Her Tell You What Name She'll Have!
Love This Time For You!!!

Oh, that's great. I really liked this mare in your photos of her, but, perhaps a bit like you, I was almost afraid to say so in a comment for fear it would not work out. So happy for you.
