My photos

I got some photos of the two on our lower grazing strip yesterday (and I gimped them for color).

Baasha is all bundled up because coming off the sedative he was shivering and I cannot stand that. It's about 7 degrees C.

I tested our fence and it's 10,000 volts all the way around. That's the maximum electric fences can go, so I've read. It's also the voltage used for the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. I've been warned about donkeys not respecting fences, and being less sensitive than horses, so I turned it up. I'm keeping them in the grazing strips for the purpose of testing the fence, actually. Or, I should say, testing the donkey. The dinosaurs tested the fences regularly, like Baasha did today. Like those dinosaurs, he won't test that exact spot again, I'm sure.

Blurry but this is the first time I've seen Bellis recline outside. I cracked up yesterday when I put that dark red blanket on Bellis and IT FIT - lengthwise. It hung down to her knees and looked ridiculous. So her head is bigger than Baasha's, and her back is just about as long. *lol* (To be honest the blanket is a little too short for Baasha, lengthwise, but it still works as a second blanket.) I wonder how I'll find a blanket that fits her. She needs a raincoat.

She found a low hanging Ash branch and got it, I was laughing, I hope she does trim the trees for us. So far she likes our hazelnut, beech, and birch.

This is that look she gives me all the time. She's thinking, "I think I'll go get in her personal space again!" How 7MSN sits in her pasture and drinks margaritas with donkeys is beyond me.

Also, have you ever seen a donkey run? Usually Bellis is slow-motion-equine, but when she feels like sprinting across the pasture, it is hilarious. There is no dignity or grace in a donkey galloping. She holds her head straight out like a charging goose, neck inverted. I would love to get a photo of this if I'm ever lucky enough to have the camera when she runs. Thankfully Bellis is so slow about everything she does, a very peaceful companion for a flighty Arabian. It's true what they say that donkeys are not flight animals.
