Roofwork and a light dusting of snow

We got a little bit of snow but it's nothing to write home about. Maybe tomorrow.

We finished the roof of our barn! That was a hard day for my man: drilling holes from the bottom/inside, then going up there and drilling again from the topside, then lifting the sheets of metal to clear off the layer of ice, then drying it as much as possible, then sanding the holes a bit, then riveting them - two holes at a time, then climbing down, moving ladders and starting again. A rivet every 6 inches, all the way around. Eventually my man was just sitting up there, his pants soaked through with ice water. I couldn't help much beyond moving and holding ladders, and handing him things. I had the cold job, he had the hard job.

He mentioned that if I wanted a good photo of barnbuilding, this would be the time.

After we finished the roof, we set the barn down on the ground in its final position and my man even started putting on the door hinges. Now we even have one door finished but I didn't manage to get a photo of that. I started moving rubber floor mats in but I need my man do figure out that puzzle some other time - that's the final step.

Baasha still hasn't been in the new barn.

Crazy roses!

"Can you feel your feet?"

Mercer's first snow. "What on earth happened here?"

You snagged yourself a great guy but I think you already knew that! The barn is looking good!

Deeeeeeeeeeeeply jealous! Our "barn" still looks like a greenhouse. Sigh.

Are you totally excited about your new barn???

The project is almost done! What will Baasha think?
Lovely photos of the snow. Nice in pictures - I don't want to think about the question "Can I feel my feet?" although your photo of that is adorable!

Dom, thank you!

Melissa, oh, I think he'll be happy to read this comment, because the whole time he was sick and coughing and sneezing and afraid he wouldn't be able to make it back to work Monday. I told him he should quit but he just pushed it.

Aarene, I'm excited but I'm trying not to set finish dates anymore! I look forward to Baasha having a stall almost twice as big, and less wind in Winter. I look forward to using our old stall for my beloved lawnmower and weedwhacker and all the other things that shouldn't be outside!

Juliette, I hope he likes it. It is certainly louder in rain, with a metal roof. But to me that is so cozy, it reminds me of camping as a child.

Funder, I look forward to more of your projects too.

Wow, that's alot of good work!
Matts are like puzzles...good luck with that math based job.

That's a darn cool/cute bird feeder in the snow and Mercer too...looking a bit befuddled.
okay, I've missed something.since Baasha had the place to himself now...what are you going to use the other barn for?

Kacy, the new barn/run-in is for when we do have another horse. We are hoping that someone answers our ad for free board, but so far, very few fit our requirements. If we don't find anything, then someday I'll have a job hopefully and have enough money for another horse, so I wanted to just get this settled right now. We should expect to have more than one horse in the long run.

Until then, Baasha will have a much bigger stall to himself, and our old stall will go back to being a storage area. My lawn mower will really appreciate it.
