Posterization

I really like Kacy's new posters, created by Juliette of Honeysuckle Faire. I wondered if I could make some too. I am no graphic artist, that's for sure, but the gimp does have a "posterization" button that I found, and it works. (It takes me forever to learn gimp features cuz it's all in German, so this was actually a lucky click for me.)

Juliette could probably explain to me why Baasha's forelock turned out the exact same color as the canvas grey. That was not intentional.

The first thing I learned was you need a photo with a lot of natural contrast to start with. Baasha in the snow just doesn't work at all! It had to be Baasha in a dark stall. Dark horses would be perfect on the snow.

My man wanted me to make a motivational poster out of this one, something about the correct expression for getting treats. I wasn't clever enough to find the right motivational title, but this is the "treats?" look, so...

Now I'm in the mood to do a paint-by-number. I love those!

Juliette has a massive font library to make professional quality prints and I agree with Kacy that they would make great gifts for horsey people.

I love posterization. It's my favorite photoshop thing - I actually get to use it on a funny series featuring dogs at work! LOL

These are really stunning. How about for a T-shirt?

Oooh! These are so beautiful, Lytha! You should consider doing these for others, maybe selling as gifts. You have a nice talent for it, even if you discovered it by accident.
I might try this wit Picnik someday, too.

Baasha looks lovely postererized. :)

Tho "Got Carrots?" is cute, I think I like the first one the best--Bassha has the greatest eyes!
