Baasha's a wimp! I've raised a wimpy horse! He's standing in his stall right now, as he did all day yesterday, due to....get this....RAIN. A light, pleasant rain, not a drenching Florida rain. A rain like you see in Seattle (300+ days a year). And there he stands, all day long, looking out at the rain, not about to set foot outside.
And normally he goes outside to use the toilet, but oh no, no, it's raining! I don't wanna get my new summer coat wet! He poops and pees in his stall, and then just stands there some more. He licks salt, he eats hay, but doesn't step outside. Total wimp.
But this morning it stopped raining for a little bit, and we couldn't find him! My man always gives Baasha a carrot as he leaves for work, but there was no Baasha to give it too! I was worried, worried, as my man drove off to work. I got dressed as fast as I could, and ran out there to check the field. I noticed our car parked there next to the gate. OH how sweet, my man was worried too!
My man and I both trudged through the long wet grass until we saw Baasha down the slope, headdown grazing. WHEW! He went to work, and I went back to bed.
I realized this was Baasha's first trip to the pasture on his own, usually I have to bring him there every day, because it involves a walk next to our ponds, and he instinctively dislikes these low lying wet areas. Well after a day of standing around indoors, I guess he felt the pull of the spring grass, and he pastured himself! WOO! I was hoping this day would come.
But now it's raining again and there he stands, all cozy.
I wanted to go riding today but, uh, it's raining.

Who wanted rain???
Ha ha Keia's right - I remember that post!! Baasha is so cute standing in there peering out through the rain drops...
Interesting that he needs a human to lead him to grass. You must be so proud that he got past that. Now he just needs to enjoy the rain.
Yah, I distinctly remember rain dances coming from your region. Sheesh. All you gotta do is wash the car or water the garden to make it rain, everyone knows this.
Maybe Baasha was hoping you'd come out and stand in the rain with him. I notice that YOU--despite your Swampland upbringing--were indoors writing on your computer, instead of going out in the rain to pee!
Hahahahaha!
Now that my Intrepid rider award has been revoked...*giggle*
So here's my theory. In Seattle, if you don't go out in the rain, you'll never do anything at all. Right? But here, it's like Sequim, Washington. Some sort of rainshadow effect. We've been hearing about lots of rain in cities very near us, and what about us? Sequim. Rainshadow: ) With all these sunny days, why ruin your hairdo by picking a rainy one to ride? We'll see if my theory changes, I've only lived here 6 weeks.
NM - Baasha has magically disappeared again. I'm so proud of him, taking himself to pasture by the scary trout ponds! Not as daft as he lets on, maybe? *giggle*
Nice to meet you. I'm bummed for you that Hulu wont work in Germany.
There are some other sites that show TV shows for free. When I googled BTVS I found about 4 places that did. I was already using hule so I have not checked them out. Are you speaking German like a local person?
Phew! It took me a while to get caught up, but I did it! I'm not sure how I lost track of your blog, but I am back.
Everything looks great!!! How wonderful that you have your horse with you now! I too have some horrible boarding stories that I could tell...
That's really kind of funny! Rain or shine, mine don't care as long as there's food involved.
Sweet blog! I love that you came back to America to bring your horse home with you! I will enjoy following your new lives together in Germany.
Your horse is very funny. I like the fact that as soon as it stopped raining he led himself out to pasture. Our horses go out everyday rain or shine and they seem to like it that way. If we leave them in they are really annoyed and start throwing things down the aisles, like buckets and blankets.
Baasha is one seriously pampered pet! hehe!
