We ran out of stall bedding pellets on the day of the rain. Since it was too wet to go potty outside, Baasha made a huge mess of his stall and there were no more pellets so I couldn't clean it up. My man peered into the stall and said "Eeww" and I said, "Yah, he seems so neglected, standing in a dirty stall like this. Can you please get us some more pellets when you're in town?" (I didn't want to clean out the stall and leave bare floor for him to pee on, that would be bad.)
My man came through! He does not like a dirty barn. I was so thrilled when he said "go look in the car": )
I cleaned the stall fast, and then freshened it up a bit.
Probably not its intended use.

Since it's Saturday, it's lawn mowing day. The lawn wasn't very long this time, but I prettied it up anyway. I realized I didn't have a picture of my favorite new tool (my honda gas powered mower) so I fixed that.
I didn't want to hit my head on the low brances of the plum tree so I cut them off at my head height, and gave them to Baasha.
Look how he's diggin into them, he loves them. He really needed hands to eat the leaves off the branches.
He was tossing them around, trying to get just leaf in his mouth and no branch. Right as he stood there struggling with his surprise lunch, I started up the mower. He'd never seen/heard it before and he does not like it. He rushed into his stall and stood there, hiding from the stinky loud thing I pushed around the yard. Of course he's seen a lawn mower at some point in his life, but not here, and he'd prefer to be the lawn height controller in this household.

Lawn height controller. LOL
Just one bag of pellet? Does it last a long time?
well our first bag lasted a month, but he's getting better about going outside to use the bathroom. but now that it's raining, i'm afraid he's reverted back to bad habits.
those pellets are pretty amazing at how much they absorb - you don't need to use much, and when a horse pees, there is only a very small wet spot. and we don't have room to store straw (straw is the bedding of choice here in germany). and i cannot deal with straw, i'm incompetent at actually getting poop/wet out of a straw-bedded stall.
I am so not surprised that you used Febreze in the stall. hehehe
Laughed my butt off at the Febreze. Srsly. My butt, it's gone. Your fault.
"...when a horse pees, there is only a very small wet spot."
Clearly you have yet to meet Fire Hose Fiddle, Fountain of the West. Aarene's mare uses half a 60 gallon tub of shavings at each cleaning. She likes to pee in her stall. It's her hobby.
I use those pellets as cat litter. It's amazing at how little you need, and it doubles in size when it gets wet.
Hainshome, Aarene, Wish I had the purple bottle, but I haven't seen that flavor here.
Asparagus Stalker - Have you tried rubbing her nose in it? *giggle* We're sitting here doing the math trying to figure out what 30 gallons is in liters. Is that accurate? 120 liters of bedding? How often is it cleaned?
Fiddle's stall is cleaned DAILY. When she moves to our place (end of the month, cross fingers!) she won't HAVE a stall, because we won't be able to build it until late summer. She's just going to have to piddle on grass like other horses.
She really does urinate copiously. But she also drinks a lot, eats a lot...heck, she's big. She's fueling a big engine, it makes sense that she uses more fuel. She isn't like those airfern Arabs, after all!
