It's been 10 years since I got Mag. I've never met a horse like him. He's Jeckyll and Hyde.
More submissive behavior than I've witnessed; he "gulps" vocally if I move too quickly by him.
More dominant behavior than a gelding should have - sheath dropped, neck arched, nickering to humans.
I have only seen him flirt with Bellis once when she was in heat (and I have a huge YouTube following in South America from what should have been an innocent video).
We have no baby mules here. He cannot be proud cut.
My trainer wrote me a report of her time with him this week, how he continues to display stud behavior after the lesson is over. He's fine at the start and during the lesson, but on releasing him into the pasture, he starts posturing and nickering and stomping.
What is up with my strange horse? Here's a video of some of their liberty work together: Liberty Work

Having owned a stud, I don't see that as stud behavior. I think it's just his nature to be on the playful side?
When he drops is it erect or floppy? I've seen erect geldings that were just over stimulated with a training session. I find this very interesting. Geldings are weird. Seamus drops a lot but it's just floppy. He is sometimes pushy but I wouldn't say he's showing stallion behavior. Was the video showing this behavior in Mag? He's such a pretty boy, pain in the butt or not! LOL
It might be worth having blood work done. He's as light on his feet as ever!
Have you had his testosterone blood levels checked by a vet? If a remnant of the epedidymis is left behind, it can continue to secret low levels of testosterone. The horse can’t reproduce, but it will still show some stud like behavior. A long time ago, we had a horse like this, and blood test showed that he was proud cut. The vet removed the remnant and the behavior went away.
Sorry I wasn't clear - the video was just a random thing, nothing to do with the topic. My fault. The behavior, which he showed me today, is arching his neck, nickering, stamping a forehoof, dropping his sheath, and even squealing. I sent him backwards away from me, protecting myself.
Sorry, the video didn't show the behavior, I just wanted to share. Thankfully he's not erect during work, just hanging out, a lot of the time.
I guess I should do that, thanks.
I will do that. This behavior is not endearing: )
TEN YEARS!?!?! Wow. Agree that it might be time to have his hormone levels checked. Has he always done this, or is it a new(ish) behavior?
