Sale photos of Allegro

Finally they posted Allegro's sale photos..

..and I'm surprised at how different he looks in their photos vs. real life. He looks like a powerfully-built horse in some of these photos. He doesn't look like a delicate 14.2, size 0-shoe child's dream pony. I have to say, these people are really good with a camera.

Usually photos don't lie, but in this case I have to repeat that I thought I would break this horse by getting on him. These photos might make you think he is a broad horse but he's actually one of the narrow ones. The tiny hindquarters are exactly as I recall in RL though. Very good photography here, they should have no trouble selling this horse (to a small person).

The text of the ad says what a wonderful family horse he is, how much he loves people and loves being spoiled and how he's used to children.

I keep thinking of my rides on him. "Get ready for some excitement, horseseekers, if you take a test ride on Allegro!"

He does look substantial in the photos. Interesting...!

You'll have to keep me posted on your progress re: standie people
I have my hopes up.

WV: swomme
a gait seasonally exhibited by many Swampland-bred horses: a four-beat gait executed at the speed of a walk. The swomme is traditionally trained by riding a horse for months at a time on trails that are covered by knee-deep floodwaters and mud.

Ya he does look like a good boned horse. Did you get a picture of you on him, are you sure he was as fragile as you are thinking? Hope you find something soon it must be awful wanting a horse and not getting one, I have been lucky and there are lots around here.

Doesn't his rider look a little tense? Or maybe I'm projecting from your post. LOL

Ah well. Amazing what people call family friendly.

Breath is right - that rider never let her eyes leave his ears!

He has tiny hindquarters- not proportion to the rest of him in the photos.

I don't worry too much about the hindquarters being light in a green horse--miles of hills will fix that. But if his butt looks light compared to his chest which is tiny, I'm afraid he will shrivel up and blow away!

They are beautiful photos...I bet even the sellers get misled by their own photos.

First thing I noticed too was the riders eyes...she is prepared.
Good luck to you.
I have been following your search. It took me a year and a half to buy Scout. Looked at a ton of horses and a lot were misrepresented in their ads. But when I met Scout, I knew. He wasn't perfect but he was close enough to take a chance on. I hope that happens for you too.

Those are the most beautiful sale photos I've ever seen. :blink blink:

I gotta disagree with everybody else. The rider doesn't look tense to me, she just looks like she's capital-R Riding. The way I think I'm riding when I'm actually kicked back, heels up, listing to the right.

You know they all look tiny and wispy to me!

I think the rider look tense and braced. Not the way I'd want to ride a green horse, shoulders forward, etc. Anyway, I wanted to share a quote from a friend who recently bought a horse. She said she went to look at several at different places, but of the one she ended up buying, "It was the first one to make me smile." That's what I'm hoping for you. I'm glad that you are too discerning to "settle."

Just doesn't have that "smooth" bodied look that I like. Photos were nice.

It's amazing what the right angle/stride will do. I've taken photos of skinny horses that make them look healthy, and pictures of little horses that make them look big. I've also posted photos of Mike riding Ozzy that make Oz look like a pony, even though he's a 16hh TANK of a horse.
