New Years in Cologne

I know I'm late but I wanted to show you guys what New Years is like in Germany. They call it Silvester and the city does nothing, it's all individuals who buy fireworks, and everyone gets into it, even in our small village. We celebrated with the family in Wuppertal (eating Raclette, awesome, and enjoying drinks-on-fire!). The whole town erupted and I started choking as clouds of firework smoke saturated the air. Good thing we were indoors, nice and safe. I recommend this if you are in Europe, be inside if you want to be safe!

When I got to work on Monday I saw the photos of downtown Cologne on the front page of the paper and realized these are not photoshopped, this is real. The Colonians even set them off on the railroad bridges over the Rhein as the photos show.

I would have loved to have been up in the Dom (cathedral) that night.

That is amazing and beautiful! I totally would have thought it was photoshopped.
Kinda scary in a way too though.

My sons were in Munich for New Years two years ago. They were astounded by the fireworks. I got the street level view of their experience, not the views you showed. How incredible!
Oh... and raclette - yum! One of my favorites! Of course, anytime you give me warm, gooey cheese I'm happy!

Bigtime WOW!

Please don't show this picture to anybody at Tulalip, they'll be jealous and want to compete and then I'll NEVER get any sleep on July 4th or January 1st!!! >g<

Wow! That's amazing - I bet it's even better than a big city show. I do feel bad for horses who have a bad fear reaction to fireworks, though.

Cologne was my FAVORITE part of Germany. We took the train there many times. I sure do miss it.
