Horse shopping continues

I keep browsing online horse markets to see what my chances are of finding an Arabian. I'm especially interested in finding a horse nearby so I can go see it, and then maybe ride it, and then visit again. So this search could take a very long time - there are not that many Arabian farms in my state. But there are a few. I'm going to visit another one tomorrow. The horse's ad is at the bottom of this post if you make it that far.

It is funny, the way people compose their horse ads. Maybe people make certain mistakes (like breed) on purpose to draw buyers - no idea. 

My search is for Arabians but they don't have to be purebred. I'm looking for horses who are over age 4, preferrably much older than 4 and it must be ridden and have trail experience. I'm not looking at greys. (Ha, good luck!)

A centimeter is about half an inch, and Baasha stands 150 cm, or 15 hands high.

I'm looking at both genders but it's astounding (to me) how many stallions are out there. About 1/3 of the horses for sale. Not just babies, but mature and even aged stallions. People just don't geld here as often.

I'm always surprised at how many people sell Arabian horses and advertise their long manes and beautiful forelocks. OK....are we 12 year old girls then? Is that the market for Arabians? This was not just once, I've seen it many times.

I've noticed that Germans are not as specific about horse colors. They call all brownish horses brown, whether they are bay or seal brown. "Braun." Chestnuts are "Fuchs." (the word for fox). Blacks are "Rappe" greys are "Schimmel" (the word for mold, nice.) But what I'm seeing in these ads, people are really loose with the few color names they have. You'll see....

No, she's GREY. How can you own an Egyptian Arabian and call it "Black roan." (!!??) Also they say, "Lots of black in her pedigree. Loves to run." (Almost all the ads say something about how much the Arabian horse loves to run.)

Oh, he's really cute, I like him, except those legs. And he has withers like Baasha, complete with shelf. They say he's a "picturebook horse" suitable for trailriding. I must say I like the color.

OLDENBERG ARABIAN MARE
Arabian Partbred mare, 7 years old, 166 cm, bay.
She's been ridden. Has had 2 premiere Oldenberg foals. I think she must be a pasture breeding accident cuz why would someone cross and Arab with an Oldenberg?

9 years old, 150 cm, chestnut.
A typy, expressionistic, powerful mover with featherlike gaits, very presentable, exciting, fully there, a real eye pleasure (sorry, my translation is bad!) The thing is: 9 years old, never ridden, I don't want that kind of headache from such an expressionistic horse!

CHESTNUT ARABIAN MARE Price on request. 8 years old, 152 cm chestnut. Pregnant.

Pure egyptian. She looks really nice. Nice angles, I like her. I'd like to trim her toes. Never ridden. Very affordable. Available for lease. (!!??) (If a horse is very affordable why not list the price?)

"Must use martingale on the trails cuz she loves to run. The trot and walk are very nice though." I had to include this grey because she is actually ridden and I was getting tired of looking at unbroke horses.

Pure Arabian, 5 years old, chestnut Not ridden. Not pictured so I can see his legs. What is their excuse for not riding a 5 year old gelding? They have not listed his height so maybe that's it. He's really cute though.

And now for the one that made me call.
She's a Prognoz daughter (Menes/Muscat), but only half Russian. The other side is Polish and Egyptian. She's 153 cm, bay, 5 years old. At first I skipped right by because I had the feeling she's very green but she's been listed a while so finally I called. When I called the breeder was actually riding her at that moment on a 2 day trail ride. This is encouraging. The bad news: she's 6K Euros. She's what they call a good breeding specimen. I certainly cannot afford that but I'll go take a look anyway. This turns out to be an Arabian stable I'd been trying to reach but my emails must have bounced.

The father is Prognoz:

He sires track racing horses and endurance horses. He is an Elite stallion from Tersk (the russian state stud). Körung Aachen 1997 Gold.
