Uninteresting blog post, but full of cool images!

My first real weekend! Saturday I worked in the yard from 8 am to 6 pm and my back is sore from pulling weeds. I also mowed for hours - I know, I thought I hired a gardner to do this! Where the heck is he? Well I cannot stand to go another day with a shaggy lawn so I just did it.

My mother in law came over to help us tear out a bunch of plants and bushes to try to salvage them for when the city comes next week to install a natural gas line. Yah, we're really about to modernize this old relic of a house! I hope the berry plants we dug up survive.

Friday was the last day of school (I witnessed kids celebrating on my train ride home) and my man will finally get his well earned rest.

Teachers work evenings and weekends so summer is the only time they really get off - and here it's only 6 weeks. 5 for teachers.

Oh but Monday he has to go back because he's the team leader on the building reconstruction project...agh. But at least he won't be teaching lessons and grading papers for a few weeks. He deserves a rest so much!!

Here is an image better suited to my man.

Just one more teacher-y image I've collected for my man, trying to amuse him.

But things will change around here. I am gone 11 hours per day with this new job. That means I cannot possibly manage all the housework alone. I look forward to him cooking some of his signature dishes for me a lot! And he can enjoy the fun of hanging up socks to dry in the attic.

But I worked my butt off Saturday so today I just tried my best to actually rest.

My man's parents were out of town so they asked us to take care of Opa (my man's grandfather) all day long. It was kind of nice to just sit on the couch, the three of us, and drink tea and eat the zucchini bread I made (with the zucchini the size of a baseball bat that my man was swinging around pretending to attack the bad guys!).

It's been raining all day long. Nonstop. Another thing to force me to actually rest today.

Baasha was in his stall all day until now when I said "OK just get a little bit wet for a couple hours at least!" and forced him out. Now he's standing under the overhang trying to get me to take the hint. I really want him eating grass and not just hay. Maybe the rain will stop and he'll go out to pasture while I'm sleeping.

The vet was here again to re-check Baasha's eyes and said he found Herpes Virus 5 in his eyes, and gave us 2 more meds. Baasha looks great so I'm not too worried. I have to try hard to remember to go out there 4 times per day to do the treatment, cuz he looks just fine, thank God.

I'd love to talk about my new job but I've only finished "bootcamp" - the first week is just training so I cannot really say what my job is like. I hope to soon cuz I am so curious. And impatient. And I need to know if I bought this Chamomile tea for nothing (it calms me down, but so far, no stress!).

Oh yah, on Tuesday I almost blew up my computer, and it was totally humilating. This always seems to happen to me when I start a new job. The CTO himself came down to help me (SO embarrassing!) cuz none of the IT guys were in that early. He looked at the little USB fan I'd plugged into my monitor's port and said, "You should probably just use a regular standing fan if you're hot." (*cringe* - but this fan was soo cool! It had LEDs inside that made pretty patterns at random, I love that thing! Oh well. Totally embarrassing.)

Tomorrow morning I try out the "Robotic Car Stacking Device" cuz guess what a monthly train ticket costs? 78 Euros. !!! Driving the Prius I get better than 50 MPG. The Car Stacker Garage is FREE. OK I will get over my hesitation and just use that thing!

I hope to have relevant news from the job front soon! So far it's too good to be true.

Counting my blessings,

~lytha

Those images are hysterical. And remarkably accurate - hard water - ice. Really? what more is needed?

I can't wait to hear what work is like after boot camp. I have a feeling it is as good as you think.

I'm so happy for you, but I'm really in shock that German schools just got out. Crazy! Southern US schools are going to start back up soon! Love the pics, especially Tetris.

It's pretty funny that it's cheaper for you to drive than to take public transportation.

As a former teacher I loved your images! Especially the Tetris one (I taught Math!)
Good luck with the car stacker. It should be interesting!
I wonder if driving all of the way will cut some time from your commute. I'm surprised at the cost of the train pass. I always thought prices for things like that in Europe were very reasonable.

I showed my husband those math images. He got a kick out of them. He's a math teacher.

Baasha looks so handsome from that angle in his stall. Must be amazing to have rain all day long. I don't think we have ever had a full day of rain here in New Mexico...not in the 20+ years we've lived here. It usually only rains for about 15-30 minutes at a time, then the sun comes out, and maybe a few hours later, it might rain again in the same manner. Sometimes it rains and the sun shines at the same time. Makes from some beautiful rainbows, too.

What is this car stacker thing? Have you taken any photos of it to share?
The teacher images made me smile. Thanks for a fun post.
