It's called an Anti Muellerian Hormone test. It tests for hormones at unusual levels.
Mag "passed" his AMH test this week. Apparently his adrenal glands are producing testosterone, in levels above normal. So, no hidden testicles.
I had no idea the adrenal glands could produce testosterone and I'm pretty good at my physiology!
So the vet recommends a lifelong treatment of "Chaste-tree" or "Monk's pepper" which includes magnesium and tryptophan.
Without input from people who have used such a thing, I'm not going to do it. I'm going to just continue to try to discourage the stud behavior as best I can.
I'd appreciate help if anyone has experience in this area.

Carmen is on chaste tree berry powder. It does help with her heats.
I have used chaste berry on mares and yes it does work. If you can do a herbal remedy to help your horse, go for it!
Love the photo. Chaste Tree is bottled & sold by Standard Process, a company my Vet used for several products. I'd be curious enough to try it & see if Mag responded. I have to wonder how many pills a horse sized dose would be & it's not cheap!

Interesting. I've heard of it for mares but curious to see how it works for geldings. Seamus can seem to be a little on edge at times. He's out 100% with a track system but sometimes just seems tense. Wonder if chaste berry would be good for him?
The symptoms I've experienced with Mag are: 1) nickering to his handlers in a stud-like fashion, with arched neck/posturing, especially at the end - releasing the halter - of a lesson, 2) Intensely sniffing poop piles, his own, 3) Dropping his penis every single interactions with humans. I started him on the hormone herbs today. I'll let you know!
