A pain that I'm used to

I only get sick once every US presidency, and I am going through my Trump illness.

It's been 6 days since I contracted a virus from the hospital, that gave me my first experience with a sinus infection.

Since I only get sick once per term, I get to whine about it a little.

I thought I'd go blind from the pain, and was sure my ears were bleeding, and my teeth were rotting out of my head. CONSTANT pain. Sort of like a headache but in your face, jaw, ears, and teeth. Not in the brain area at all, happily *sigh*

Every time I sneezed, I imagined that's what like having broken ribs is like.

Every time I coughed, I had a spasm of head pain that made me cry.

I've had migraines. Two. This was similar, but different. It lasted 6 days!

I couldn't sleep cuz lying down traps the evil fluids and makes it worse. Getting up meant strapping an ice pack to my head. I have one on now, but it doesn't cover my jaws or neck.

I remember my Bush virus (common cold), my Clinton one, also common. My doctor, on Monday said, "Common cold." WTH! This is not a cold! This is unbearable pain that ibuprofen will not help, and that is what he told me to take. I got no prescription from him for my "common cold."

J has been helping me with the animals, and I've been too sick to bend over and pick up a scrap of paper from the floor. I thought I'd die at one point, I told J all my meds and my allergies so he could convey that info to the medics.

When I coughed, the pflehm was like glue. Not as much fluid as solid stickiness. And my tissues were green.

I tend to blame the hospital, where we tested dozens of patients per day for MRSA, and SA is what causes sinusitis.

Wikipedia told me antibiotics will not help. Of course not if my illness is caused by

Today I feel better, I actually got up and moved around, not that staying still helped with the pain, before. I can cough and sneeze and the pain in my head is half what it was. It feels like a celebration, I'm so glad.

I opened my fridge and for the first time, could tell there was an onion in there. YES!

My animals languish in boredom...wait, no they don't, they love grazing and catching apples that fall regularly from our trees, as well as the acorns and walnuts.

I'm supposed to be doing my first week in the Operating Room and instead, I've been in bed wrapped in blankets with ice on my head. Yesterday I got my period and the cramps were some sort of "welcome" pain, a pain that I'm used to. Then I remembered Depeche Mode has a song named that, "A pain that I'm used to." I wonder if they got it from a woman.

Thankfully I have a doctor's note and I'm "only an intern" so it's not so tragic if I'm not there this week.

Yesterday I was burning up with fever but actually had no fever, I was just burning up. ??? In the night I began coughing for real and the fluids were clear. I felt hope.

I got up this morning and took Ibuprofen for my head, and nothing else. Nothing else had helped so far. And I'd never truly gone through all our meds before, trying each and every one! Nose spray, Benadryl, Mucosanol, Sudofed (from 2010), European Herbal Remedy, those were just the ones for the congestion! Nothing worked, and I threw out my old bottle of Mucinex cuz it expiered in 2007.  Perhaps expiry dates mean something?

At 9 AM I started to feel better, like I might actually only have a cold. Then I started sweating like crazy for no reason. I took a shower. Is this it?

How wonderful!

I'm sniffling and coughing and have slight headache but I can move about!

I did some housework and could actually taste my coffee.

J just called, as I typed this, and wants to order pizza. (It's the only thing we can have delivered cuz we live in "Carpatia." as people always tell us. People who've never driven from Seattle to Issaquah, apparently.)

Well, that's great cuz I might be able to taste it.

Okay, I did NOT catch my cold from you--four days and mine is almost gone. Also, I made super-garlic spaghetti sauce over spaghetti squash for dinner last night and I could definitely taste the garlic and onions.

But peppermint cough drops are my best friends ever.

It must be nice to get sick so infrequently.

I have nerve damage in my left ear and some days it starts hurting in the morning and just builds up all day until about midnight before it reaches a point I can hardly deal with and then it stops and things get better.

Oh my gosh you are such a whiner! Hahaha
I'll have to tell my son that he got it from his auntie. "Everything hurts and I'm dying" hahaha
Just kidding!! Mostly. Haha
