I just got back from North Germany, my first time visiting the "International Days of the Arabian Horse" hosted by the Arab farm called Ismer. It's also a zoo. More on that later.
I feasted my eyes on over 100 Arabians and scratched the withers of many foals. I'll tell you all about it soon, but I'm exhausted from 4 hours on the Autobahn today.
The facility was the most exquisite I've ever stepped foot on - countless old, old barns, not fancy, but gorgeous, built in the style of Lower Saxony. (With the "Lord of the Rings" horse head cross on each building - LOTR stole it from Germany, btw.)
Here's a video I just found of Boiselle's visit to the stud (not the show) - I spent the weekend with a group of ladies with enormous cameras who are all students of Boiselle. They called me their Arab expert - I'm not, really - but they're just photographers, not Arab fanatics, and I was able to explain a few things (but really not much - I'm just a beginner).
OK here, this is the video, and it shows exactly what I experienced this weekend, with the mares and foals coming in from the pasture into the barns, and sticking their heads out of the open barns (huge barns with no stalls. A wonderful place to be a horse. And since it's a zoo, the foals are ultra-socialized to humans from the start. A place unique in the world, perhaps.
and and and OK I'll try to stop now.

WOW, stunning!!! I'd be hard pressed to leave there after a visit.
some very lovely horses. I bet you had a ball.
What I love about these horses are their soft eyes, not the crazed out look so many show horses have. It is probably because they get to act more like real horses instead of having something stuffed up their rears to make them lift their tails and chased around a ring to get them overly excited. The modern show Arabian leaves much to be desired but these horses look like the result of thoughtful breeding. And they don't look like sea horses either.
Also curious as to how much these go for, an adult I guess, not the foals so much. Or maybe the foals too.
Great video--I love the footage of horses rolling, shaking, and just being dirty.
REAL horse life.
Beautiful! I hope you took a LOT of photos!
