I'm sorry but I had to buy German due to the fact it's a custom article that may need adjustments and to do that overseas would be rough. Check out all the bitless designs they offer, wow.
I got the bill today and the price was so low I wonder what I'm getting. I put a lot, a lot of customizations on my order, and the price is lower than her stock bridles. Only 78Euros! (91USD, 118CDN)
I wonder if I'll get the lead rope ring I requested, the nose rings (squares) and if the "nickle coating" hardware is truly rust free as promised.
I'm hoping for something like this - with all that waffle weave (white beta, not a sidepull, silver hardware, black keepers, with browband, an American style lead rope ring, and no "contrast" stitching). I feel it will be a miracle if I get exactly what I want. Actually I really like this sidepull's construction, out of box, if I ever were to go that way.
The reins were only 28E! Also custom-made white/black with silver.
Unfortunately no scissors snaps. I have one extra scissors snap in my
possession and wonder where I can get just one more because switching
between sets of reins involves a conway buckle (but not on the new
reins, they have normal buckles, so nice!)
Imagine in white. And I just noticed, I'm getting longer reins than shown and for less $. Hm.
It feels so good to upgrade tack after making successful sales on ebay. I just got 110E for my white/black set, and I'm getting this new set for only 124E.
I did the same recently with Horseware Winter blankets - sold two that didn't quite fit for around 100E each, and bought a nice replacement for 150E. I also sold my old beta biothane bridle recently, and Baasha's black leather (!) dressage bridle on ebay. I sold my Ariat Terrains on ebay too cuz the quality isn't what it used to be.
I'm even considering selling my old Wintec endurance saddle with Skito and Toklat pads, because they take up a lot of storage space. Do any of you keep a saddle around for the memories it brings? In the hope of someday needing it again? I don't like having extra tack I rarely use, but I truly love some of my old stuff. And I did use it on Momo recently, and to test ride other horses.
It doesn't always work out this way, sometimes things just break and need to be replaced (my leather halter, my Snugpax (*sniff*), one lunge whip).
It must seem to you like I'm always shopping for my horse and myself but I really enjoy trading out the old for the new, and blogging about it.
Major's owner did an inventory once that really surprised me. Let's see where I'm at.

Rest of the dressage outfit: 0 (lol)

Fun game for you guys! Just played.
Ask your husbands/friends, "How many saddles do I own?" "How many bridles" "How many bits?"
It's fun! My husband thought I had way more riding boots than I do, but was right on about the lunge whips.

HAH! You got nothing!
Saddles: 6!--my good western saddle, a wintec for grandkids and guests, two other grandkids saddles (one tiny), my dressage saddle, and an older jump saddle (which I've been trying to sell).
Pads: two 1" wool working pads, two ½" wool liners, three or four good Navaho show blankets, cavallo pad, 5-6 cheapo backup pads and blankets.
Girths: a variety of sizes, mostly mohair western, one felt, plus several leather English and dressage in various lengths.
Bridles: 5+ --bosal, two or three snaffles, one set up with a reining bit, that have yet to try with Kate, one English. Extra bits: plain ring snaffle, short shank Pelham, western Pelham, etc...
Reins: 2 horsehair mecates, one cotton mecate, one rope loop rein, several braided gaming reins (I don't game, but I hate split reins), one leather romel set, two pair split reins, one rubber-lined dressage pair, one with stops, one pastel rainbow training reins for my granddaughter.
Whips: full length lunge, six foot "buggy whip", two 39" dressage whips, one short bat.
Halters/leadropes: one for each horse in the barn (9), plus some backups, plus some old beaters, plus some baby halters I should probably sell.
I'll stop now...
Hello, I'm Laurie, and I'm a tack-o-holic.
I do hafta say that when I get catalogues these days there's rarely anything I really want, beyond daily barn supplies.
5 saddle pads? 5?! I believe that I have 12. :D :D
One bridle per horse (plus extra reins in case a pair breaks).
2 saddles (one per horse)
6 or 7 halters. Honestly- they just seem to accumulate.
I also have a big storage container full of bits of leather that I really should go through.....
Think positive. I've had pretty much every special order I've ever made screwed up one way or another. After the last two optometry offices messed up my eyeglass orders repeatedly, I tried a third optometry office and was up front about all the problems I had with previous offices, and this new office managed to get my complicated order correct on the first try. I was blown away and gave them huge kudos online and in person. I'm going back in this week just to thank them again. I want to reinforce their good listening skills, eye for detail, and good work habits so that next time I need them they will get it right again. Then my dentist office had to bring me down from my high by making mistake after mistake after mistake. So, they are history. In six months I'll be seeing a new dentist.
I have a ridiculous number of bridles and reins because I ordered ones I wanted, and then when I bought saddles, they came with bridles and reins, and then I had horse trainers who made bridles and reins for me, and then I was given bridles and reins to try out and review. I know I should sell the ones I don't use, but don't want to have to hassle with putting on a yard sale or having people come by to look at them or having to ship them off. My Tucker Trail saddle doesn't fit any of my horse's backs anymore, which makes me sad because it's so comfy for me. I can't let go of it despite that. I also have tons of riding boots because almost all of them rub and cause my feet pain in one way or another, and by changing boots half-way through my barn activities I can offer myself some relief. I see people offering used cowgirl boots for sale online all the time and am surprised what people are willing to pay for them. I guess if they are already broken in, they hold some value.
Well, that's my novel for the day.
I'm like Laurie: I already have almost everything I need, at least until I break something!
My inventory would be deeply frightening, I think, especially considering that I own one (1) horse. Let us begin with the THREE saddles....!
Laurie, I would learn split reins if I ever cared to...but I hate them for now. You ride western, you've got the peer pressure. Isn't it nice to have a Wintec for those situations, and hey, ebay will sell your jumping saddle (in American, Craigslist). Hey, you have those Navajo blankets? I miss them so much. My dressage trainer had us all working in them in schooling (Renton, Washington). I thought they were ugly but I see the point now - thin wool, machine washable. I cannot find them anywhere in Germany, just like I cannot buy a true Seattle Grunge flannel shirt. : (
I think you have options cuz you're always trying new horses and riding different ones whenever you can. Are you actually keeping a saddle cuz of sentimentality though? : )
Laurie, you're not a tack-o-holic if you are in business.
Teresa, you have 12 pads, but you have 2 horses, so that is something. I'm sure they have diverse uses. Let us know!
NM, I'm cracking up over the idea of a yard sale for horsey things. I know it happens. I've seen it once in America. I'd love it here. I cannot imagine it.
I know you have this fabulous thing, Craigslist. We have a simulation of it, but no one uses it to give stuff away here, just for sale of total crap. And, well, all the stuff I put up on there, and it sells:
Aarene, you have three saddles cuz you have two riders in your family! And two horses often ridden. Not sure about the third. EXPLAIN!: )
Jim doesn't ride anymore, and Monica has her own saddle(s), and the only horse here is Fiddle. (Monica's horse lives elsewhere). I have 3 saddles: an old Steubben that is sentimental, a gift from a beloved friend and I will never part with it even though it didn't fit Story and will never fit Fiddle. I have Jim's old Specialized, which currently sits on a cut-down saddle stand that I use as a desk chair. And I have my saddle, the one I actually use.
I have, I think, about 5 bridles. Why do I have ANY leather bridles? I haven't used them in more than a decade, but I still have them. It's a mystery. Plus Fiddle's bridle, Fiddle's other bridle, and Hana's old bridle, all biothane/beta. I sold Story's original biothane bridle because I have two other purple biothane bridles and I felt selfish just storing the old one in a box. I think one of Mary Nunn's grandkids has it now, and that is fine.
And I have about 10,000 bits, and I use two of them. Or none of them (sidepull).
It's entirely possible that I have so much stuff because I have so much room to store it all.
Hmmm. Might be time for a tack sale?
Funny Aarene, J wanted to buy us an American style stand-alone fridge. I said no way, cuz if I have a "normal" sized fridge, I'll just fill it up with food that I'll forget about. I say it's just like women and purses. I carry tiny purse because I don't want to have room for so many things.
Oh, I forgot, I have another hoof pick, it's in my saddle bag.
We have a storage room in our attic for the things I don't actively use, and I feel guilty about that stuff up there. Will I ever want to use spurs again? Time will tell: )
One hoof pick? One? I have one in every car, on the pasture gate, about 5 in the trailer, they either multiply or disappear.
The other things seem about right. I think when I did my inventory it was JUST the trailer. http://trails-and-trials-with-major.blogspot.com/2017/04/excess.html
I'd love to sell some stuff, but that takes a whole 'nother level of organizing...
Can't wait to see the new bridle!
How much tack I own:
I plead the fifth :(
People will give away tack, and I snatch it, thinking "what if I need it in the future and can't afford it?"
I have a pile of.... things, that came in a box, that I keep meaning to go through and check out and see what they are. I am where old tack comes to die.
Irish, I remembered I have two hoof pics, actually, I'd forgotten the one in my saddle pack.
BB, you have a lot of horses, so, you're good: )
