Another photo from last Winter at the big barn

One of the things I loved about boarding, after saying NEVER AGAIN, was that other boarders seemed to really care about my horse when I was not there. I was there 6 hours a day 5 days a week, but I could not be there in the evening. So Bettina, owner of Alexi, (pictured), sent me this image on Mag's first night in a big Wuppertal barn.

Another day, the one person I didn't like (sequim lady) called me to say Mag was freaking out, and she offered to help. I was unable to be there, and I was grateful.

I want to point out the Fjord mare in the background of this photo, Maja. Her leasor, Jana, went out with me and Mag a few times on trail and in the arena, to help me get started riding Mag (as a precious few other boarders also did). You might remember Jana, who rode Mag around the arena, confusing Mag totally, cuz he still thinks he should only be ridden by one person. Oh, you should have seen his face when I put her on him and walked away!!!!

Sweet Jana insisted that I get up on Maja, (without the owner's approval) and I had the most relaxing ride ever, on the most sofa-like horse. Yah, she's a 20+ year old cold blood, but, ooohhhh  how nice. I was safe as houses on her broad back. I sat on her no saddle, trotting around happily.

Mag went around looking at me, "This cannot be my reality!"

I appreciate our time at that barn last Winter, so I'm gonna keep talking about it.

I miss you Willy! How you spoke Polish to Mag, how you loved the horses more than anything else in life.

Yah, boarding has some advantages. I love having Fee at home, but I spend lots of time hanging out with her at Fish Creek Farm, especially in winter!

A non-drama barn = gold.

I miss the companionship of boarding (not the drama though) but I still wouldn't trade it for having my horses at home.
