Tomorrow I'm going to the liberty clinic at Katja's place, and have
very low expectations about it being either fun or educational. I've
already audited a liberty clinic with Germany's most famous liberty guy,
and took pages and pages of notes that I blogged about, it was awesome.
I'm not sure what I can learn tomorrow that I did not see from him, but
maybe I will. It's free, so I have to go.
I had told
her, "It will just depress me to spend a day watching people do what I
cannot because I have no enclosed area to do it myself" but
then....ping.
The fancy arena lady emailed me
yesterday, "We are going to offer our arena to neighbors to use for
7Euros per session." I have been waiting for this cuz you all know how
inconsistent she's been about it due to varying factors like weather,
her mood, etc.
I always had the idea, if I could just
pay a fee, she would be more inclined to let me come on a somewhat
regular basis, and not suddenly un-invite me as she has.
So
liberty clinic + potential for regular arena use...yes! The only reason
I'm looking in the direction of liberty work is Mag's apparent
enjoyment of running beside me. If he already does it with me not asking
him to, well...
I've been sick this week with a cold. I haven't had a cold since the
Bush administration. I cannot sleep at night cuz I keep coughing, and my
ears feel like someones drilling into them, my head aches, my nose is
annoying, and swallowing hurts both throat and ears. I keep trying to go
outside and do things, and halfway through the task, I am exhausted and
have the unique sensation of not knowing whether I'm hot or cold. It's
bloody hot out, I'm sweating, and for the first time, the sweat seems to
be chilling me, like it's intended purpose! Hm! J said, "Whoa, I have
not seen you in long sleeves and pants in a long time." Me neither.
I
think my animals understand why I'm acting strange. The day it rained
all day, when I finally came outside to check on them, Mag neighed at me
almost angrily, "Do you know, it's been raining all day long and we
have been stuck indoors cuz the donkey refuses to get wet?" At least
that is what I imagined his angry neigh to mean, cuz the hay net was
full.
Right now my cat is trying to get my attention in
her wary way. I call her garbage cat now cuz this morning she opened up
our recycling bags and spread our garbage all over our street. It was
horrible. It was everywhere. All our recyclables even across the street,
how did that happen? A bottle of Show Sheen was across the street
(how?) My medication blister pack lying there for all to see. I assume
it was the cat cuz there are no other animals around here who would do
that at 10 AM.
Today is the last day of school and J is
very, very relieved to see it done. For the next 6 weeks he will bliss
out on whatever he likes to do, he deserves it. Teachers never really
get a break until Summer. Every night and every weekend, they're
working.
I have no pics except those of hooves lately, which I'm sure you don't care to see. So here are some from last October when my photographer friend was here. Strange how she captures my animals (cat too) in moments where I would not recognize them! She told me it's the camera. The camera itself (that thing is huge) brings a different expression. She told me Mag loves the camera though, he plays with it.
Looking forward....

WTH, show up to the clinic and you'll find SOMETHING to learn (even if it's just a food tip from somebody snacking next to you in the bleachers).
It must be so nice to go a long time between cold germs. I work in the germ factory (schools and libraries are not clean spaces and our patrons are not immaculate) and drag home a respiratory bug every year or so. Jim and I were both sick when we were working at Renegade, and I'm still coughing...have promised to talk to doctor if I'm still coughing next week. Sigh.
And yet, I ride. As we do!
And I,also, have had a cold this week, and I used it as an excuse to binge on Vikings and finish season 4.
Those are wonderful pictures. I know you will have a good time at the clinic.
Aarene I had to laugh when you said bleachers cuz this is not a fancy operation - it's a cobweb, clutter filled barn with an outdoor arena one end full of water, and one plastic bench for people to sit on, and a few plastic chairs. I was lucky that I got a part of that plastic bench. : ) I'll have to take photos of the barn/house/bathroom underneath the house, under the Shetland pony stalls. It was cozy and friendly, but horridly cluttered, nastily so.
Between germs indeed, my husband works at the germ factory too, but I'm immune, due to growing up in Seattle. Or so I say. J gets sick twice per year, regularly, but that is normal. You worked Renegade trails while ill? Good heavens. Heroic.
KB, I think Vikings is football. If not, I must share something funny. My husband, on a visit to America, saw a baseball glove for sale at a store. He said, "What is that?"
OK it's weird for an American to hear this, but the entire world does not know what baseball is. Thanks, and..You were right!
