Unfortunately she shot her iPhone right into the sun so I had to use the Gimp to brighten them and add contrast (inexpertly). J says they look fake but at least you can see what's going on now.
And you can even see how purple that field really was! You'll have to trust me that the sky was blue, that relentless, cheerful color.

"Drink this bottle of water!" I was impossible to refuse. It's not radioactive, it's just half frozen. (And since there is no Dasani water in Germany, that bottle is special to me.)

"You have to eat it from the ground cuz you're too snatchy/bitey." Watching him try to find it is hilarious because they really cannot see directly under their faces. The donkey has super powers, with her ears, she can locate a treat immediately even if it's rolling away. These round treats make it challenging because if he found it, often he'd bump it and it would roll away. Try not to laugh: )
I'm disappointed in S1 because today's another holiday (Corpus Christi) and I offered to lead my horse all the way to her barn, an hour from here on busy streets, but she says she won't ride in this weather. It's 66F (19C) and sunny right now. She says her horse will react badly to such cool, windy weather.
I can finally walk out of my house and not feel like rushing right back indoors. Yesterday was 30C and I hid in the house all day windows shut, it was too hot and buggy to even wash my car. Bellis hid in the stall ALL DAY LONG. I was very disappointed because of my offer to come all that way alone, and wrote her, "Too bad your horse and I have opposite weather preferences." She wrote back, "You and I, you mean." Oh well. My first year owning Mag, she and I only hooked up once. This year, we rode together for the first time. I can see that it won't be happening much more often, because once it's warm enough for her (her horse), it's too hot for me. And she doesn't ride in Winter. *sigh*
I'm doing my best to meet people on my side of town. So far I only have Seli, and I hope it works out with her.

Those photos are great. I think you are right to not count on S1- to be honest I get the sense that she will only ride if all conditions are perfect and you will ride anytime. :)
36 is far too hot!
Teresa, you're right, and the sad thing is, she's the closest thing I have to a friend here.
Great to have more pictures, Seli can learn lots from you (including how to take pictures!)
I am new to the horse world. I just adopted my TWH Jean Luc a little more than a month ago. But I have to tell you that your story is inspiring. Making friends is hard. Making horse friends in a country that isn't your home sounds REALLY hard. I look forward to reading more of your adventures and I'm sure you'll find more people soon.
Does your little town have a small town newspaper or newsletter? or a face book page for the neighborhood? Something you might asks if there are local riders looking for a riding partner. Where my son lived in Germany there was a neighborhood FB page to buy, sell and let people know about local events. My DIL said it was only local but used it a lot to get to know where the best shopping and things were.
I think your edits look great! And bummer on your riding weather styles differing. =(
Ellie K, I don't know - newspapers, there is only a large, regional one, our town doesn't have its own. I did meet S2 (Chili) through a regional forum, it was shocking when only ONE person responded to my riding partner request. And she's an hour way. I will have to see if there is a facebook page for horse people in this area - not sure what it would be called, though.
Liz, people should just be able to look at me and understand how much I dislike the sun.
