with J's sister, tomorrow!! I'm totally excited, because she needs her own horse so badly. She's an Icelandic fan, and I am too, so I hope I can help her, by capturing video/photos and whatever else I can do.
She mentioned that she would appreciate my help evaluating legs and hooves, but I've never seen Icelandics with bad legs, and the hooves can nearly always be fixed.
I've only ridden an Icelandic once (jumping on her back on the street on her way home from kicking the crap outta Baasha!). I'm sure they will see me as too heavy to ride one, but maybe someday.
The other thing is, in evaluating an Icelandic, they're different, they're inscrutable by equine standards. They don't play by other horse rules. And it goes way beyond that, but I don't to offend anyone today so I'll stop there.
There are a million Icelandics in Germany, but for some reason they are luxury cars, not cheap. Otherwise I'd really want one for myself.
I will bring my camera tomorrow because how many relatives do I have that own horses? One cousin in Arizona. That's it.
If it doesn't work out she's fine with leasing again, but there is nothing like having.
Oh yes, I should add, we're going to Belgium. But no waffles for me.
And if we can manage to get home in time, my wonderful neighbors are having their yearly Oster Feuer (Easter Bonfire) - which I love to contribute to cuz as an American I love a bonfire. This time, no books. I hope so much we make it in time before it's a pile of embers in a field.
Whatever, I hope we get a horse for a family member. My family has a massive lack of horses in it.

Oh, that is sooo exciting. A friend has an Icy, very sweet and reliable. They're pretty pricey in Ohio as well. One question to be sure to ask is it it has sweet itch. If so, no matter how nice a horse walk away as fast as you can.
So exciting! Good luck and have fun!
Icelandic are COOL!!!
Someday I will get my act together and visit the old friend here in Washington State who breeds 'em.
Hmmmm....
Camryn, that is their main health issue here as well, poor things are really made to live in Iceland. It's called summer eczema here and the Haflingers also get it bad: (
My Haflinger has it. Love her to pieces, but if I'd known...
Oooh I want one too, but there are none around here :(
I also am the only horsey one in my family, my mom wants a mini but she lives in town and they wont let her
That's exciting! It will be so fun to shop with a family member instead of for yourself, because you won't have the enormous stress of being the sole decider. It's like window shopping, all the fun without the responsibility of purchasing haha. Enjoy it!
