A lovely video

We're gonna be gone today so I'll leave you a video and hope that the animals behave themselves at pasture today.

It's Ekstern, Mag's maternal grandsire. Ekstern is by Monogramm who is by Negatraz who is by Bask. Funny I know all these horses from my childhood magazines, and always felt that Negatraz had the best eyes of any horse I'd ever seen. Of course, I preferred the Egyptians eventually....

Ekstern is one of Poland's most precious sires, I had read in an article a few months ago. Someone did a really good job making this video.

Negatraz was a wonderful horse. I was blessed to work for the Pattersons back in the 80's at their farm in Sisters, OR. Neg was my favorite stallion (all the horses actually) as he was so laid back and sweet natured. He had a very sweet, kind eye and loved attention. And he LOVED when people came to see him! Once he realized he was on display, he puffed up and turned on the charisma!! I was there when Monogramm was born. He was a handsome guy with lots of personality and "it" factor. Lovely bloodlines!!! Polish Arabs are my favorite.

Lovely, lovely horse. I'm making the connections now with Mag's family tree. The grandsire can play a part in the horse's make up. It's kinda cool having a horse with famous connections. Khanalee's grandsire on his sire's side was Khemosabi, and although Khanalee's sire was a dark bay, Khanalee had Khemo's coloring. When it dawned on me who Khemo was, I did go out into the pasture once and take his muzzle in my hands, look him in the eyes and say, "I don't care who your grandsire is, I expect you to be well behaved!" I admit I was impressed though.

I was ignorant about Arabians when I got him, but strangely, my daughter had done a painting of Khemosabi when she was growing up. I ended up subscribing to Arabian Horse magazine, and I saved two back issues: one with a history of Arabaian horse sires and one dedicated to Khemo.

He moves just like Gabbrielle, pausing mid stride at the trot and getting a lot of air at both paces, tail curled up over his back. The only thing I didn't see him do was her bunny hop, where she plants all four feet in the ground, jumps, punches down again, jumps...

Anyone who cares, here is a picture of Negatraz - the most perfect ears and eyes. And the color of a jar of honey held in sunlight (Sham) http://www.winddrinker.se/Negatrazbild.htm

And to see his eye: http://tinyurl.com/gqqrbte (Let's get that massive forelock out of your face and show people your eyes.)

Kris, that's awesome that you knew them. I am proud that the United States bred Monogramm and he is respected overseas. Mag's pedigree says, "Monogramm (US), Negatraz (US)" Respect.

KB, Of course Khanaee's a Khemo descendant: ) I have only one copy of Arabian Horse World, I got it from a fellow student in the 7th grade. It has Sakr on the cover. Sakr is the grandsire of Baasha. I had no idea, I just fell in love with Arabians from that girl's AHW magazine. It still has her name on the cover, but it's mine.

NM, you should have no trouble selling her if you can get a video of it, with a lovely background....: ) Arabs look so pretty in the desert. And clean.

Does he have a brand behind his right ear? if so what is it for, where he came from?

Ellie, I think it's just his markings, sometimes fleabitten Arabs have "blood marks" on them. Wish I could tell though! In Poland they seem to brand on the horses' backs. Wish I knew what it meant!

Wow both the horse in the video and the one in your comment are gorgeous!! You know, watching that video makes me think Chrome took after his Arab side a lot more than his Friesian side lol. Good thing I love both breeds! :D
