Bree's vanity

I just read that the filmmakers have skipped the very best book in the series and making the next Narnia film from another book.

I kind of thought that might happen, that A Horse and His Boy would be dropped, because who cares about a story about a talking horse?  That book has been a part of me since I was old enough to read, and before, when it was read to me.

I found this image of one of my favorite scenes in the book:

That is a disappointment. That is a special book in the series. I re-re-read it last year.

Loved the book.

Didn't know it was a series when I found it, just read because, you know, talking horse. Then later, "hey, wait--more?!?!" Which is one of the best feelings to have for an avid reader.

Movies, meh. They would have made Aravis wear something stupid, like Princess Leia's metal bikini....

Kitty Bo, I'm not certain it will be omitted, but it seems they are skipping it in sequence, so I fear it.

Aarene, only you would read book #4 and think it was standalone. Of course it does, but I can't imagine coming upon it first! In our house it was always in a box with the others. And it does say "book 4" on the cover, doesn't it? I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the others. Exiting the movie theater from the first Narnia film, I had to hear the complaints of people who didn't know it was allegory based on Christianity - people who were offended by its message. *sigh* Not long ago I had the exquisite experience visiting CS Lewis' pub and drinking a pint where he drank with Tolkien. In London last month I was scolded by a local for not seeing the important parts of Oxford. In my mind, I had.

Achieve, I may be mistaken, I just fear I'm right: ( Just curious, what color did you picture Hwin?

You know it's been so long since I read it I have no idea what color I thought she was... probably black since that's my favorite color LOL!!! What about you?

P.S. I hope you are mistaken. I'll be so sad if they don't do that one!

I'm pretty sure Hwin, a Sensible Mare if ever there was one, is brown or bay, with a pretty but undeniably large head and outsized ears.

Also,my grandmother picked up the book for me at a garage sale. I think she liked the pretty purple cover, and saw that there was a horse on it, so....me, I saw the horse on the cover and didn't look at that any longer before diving in. I was not an observant child. Nor a patient one.

Never fails... You'd think some of these film people would realize that we're a huge untapped audience!
