My chiropractor just left and I wanted to say Mara is much better than last time. Last visit Mara was uncomfortable and stressed by the movements but this time she reacted as if she didn't mind at all. The chiropractor told me what she's looking for, "When I put pressure here, her hip should move left and her back should come up" and I got to see the proper reponses.
The lumbar area that was bad last time was perfect this time. She said Mara has thin soles behind, she'll need hoof protection on rocks.
I'm glad to see Mara does not consider farriers and chiropractors people to fear, like vets. Interesting that she knows the difference. Or maybe she just didn't like that one I used this year who robbed me.
I say that because he has a reputation of being very expensive and suggesting things horses don't need. I showed the chiropractor the xrays and showed her exactly what the vet did that caused Mara so much back pain (without doing it, just putting my hands there and telling her how he pulled). She said every horse will react to that, and Mara is especially sensitive. So, it's nice to have bloodwork and xrays and yet another confirmation that her eyes and teeth are OK, and now the chiropractor is telling me to stop worrying, the horse is 100% healthy.
She said she just needs training and experience, but that I should sell her now if I'm not happy with her yet. I'm not ready to give up on Mara, and I've only just confirmed that there is nothing physically wrong with her.
The chiropractor also checked the saddle and confirmed it fits fine. Man that feels good--everytime a profi tells me that it feels good!
She said Mara is a diva, extremely sensitive, and that forcing her will never work, you have to ask her questions every time you work with her. "How do you feel? Can you work today?" She also said ground driving would help her too.
She repeated, "Your horse is healthy. Stop worrying!"
I said I have a lesson tomorrow with a new trainer and she said to say hi to her, she knows her and recommends her. OK then!

Sounds like all is good! (As long as you can live with a sensitive diva. ;-D )
All good news!! I'm so happy for you! Now you can stop treating her like she's injured and I can stop treating Chrome like he's a baby LOL!!! Have fun! I can't wait to hear about the lesson!
Yay, a new trainer!
Mara reminds me very much of Hana, who is also a diva/special snowflake. I love Hana, but the Dragon is a much better fit for me...you, I think, would never be comfortable with the accommodations we need to make for the Dragon, and Mara/Hana horses are, ultimately, the right personality match for you!
Sounds like things are all systems go for you two. Looking forward to hearing about your lesson. Ground driving is a very useful tool to have in your box.
