The bathroom is not quite finished; the half-wall needs to be painted and have silicon caulking over the baseboard tile. The bathroom obviously needs um, what do you call it, the set which includes a toilet paper holder, toilet bowl brush, etc. We have a really nice one picked out that goes with our square (or "edgy") theme.

The lightswitch lights up - just, when they installed it, they had it light up when it was on. I wondered what possible benefit that could cause - once you've found it and turned it on, you don't need an illuminated switch. Geez. They switched it for me so that it glows when it's not on. The sink drain is still not installed correctly, you can't shut the drain. |

Grey glass for the shower stall. We were really torn about what type of glass to get - clear or cloudy, but I didn't want either. The water here is fairly hard (it tests soft but it does leave a white ring where drops dried). We found grey and requested a sample and tested it by letting water drops dry (now you think we're crazy). We ordered it. The contractor said, "There is no grey glass" but he was mistaken and we are very pleased with it. It's so classy. |

The lights were finally repaired to fit flush with the ceiling. |

That tall thing is our radiator, made for hanging towels on. Warm towels, I love them so! Warm floor too, anytime I have cold feet, I just walk into the bathroom. The shower floor mosaic is actually the same tile as the other mosaic, it just looks pink due to the halogens being turned on for the photo. |
|
For some reason the lights in the shower are halogens, different than the LEDs outside the shower. We rarely use them because they are very bright and I don't need to see that much detail when I look at my skin. |
|
There is a convenient soap holder that drains. |

Typical European water controller-thingy. These things are so awesome - turn the left side to control the amount of water, the right side turns to set a temperature. After living here a while you get to know the exact temperature you like. My man likes 38 and I like 42. |
|
I love my window. The window has a little metal rack suctioned on that we keep our shampoos in. |
|
It's pretty water tight, a few drops come out when I spray it to clean it after using the shower. |

My niche. This was a huge problem. Orignally J's brother was going to make me a cabinet to keep things in. Then I panicked, thinking it won't match - I want it to match the tile. So we got the tile guy to come back and create this niche for me, using leftover tile. Guess what my little niche cost? Well, we did research and found out that they can run between 1-200$ in America. This one was 275Euros. And it was made from tile we already had leftover *and*, the hole itself was already there! I couldn't believe how expensive it was. And honestly, I'm not really sure what to do with it. Definitely not keep TP in there, that looks ridiculous. Help? Also in this photo you can see the little towel hooked onto the sink. In Germany you have to have a designated guest towel, guests don't want to use yoru bath towels. Also in this photo you can see the two toilet flush settings. |

I got a super-cool nightlight that comes on in the dark and changes colors. We set it to stay on blue though. |

I had to show you, in closing, the outside of the house view of the bathroom, after we scraped and painted it. It doesn't look great, but it is a tremendous improvement from before. |
Well, that's it. I'll try to remember to blog if and when this bathroom is every actually finished. For now, it's a real disappointment for us whenever someone visits and does not have to use the bathroom. *lol* But we do appreciate it!

I am drooling over this! Love it!
That's so beautiful, I think I'd be camping out in there.
Wow that looks amazing. Congrats, you absolutely should be unhappy when guests don't want to visit your bathroom haha!
Soooo pretty! Glad that all your waiting ended with a nice product!
What a transformation, I love it!
Your bathroom has a very crisp, clean and elegant look about it. Beautifully done. I bet you're glad to have it finished.
That is the nicest bathroom I've ever seen. I'm not surprised! It's so your style.
It's beautiful, Lytha, very "fusion!" :0)
That bathroom is GORGEOUS. Seriously. GORGEOUS.
If it were me, I'd put one slender green plant in there for a classy splash of color -
But I'm a color fanatic so you might want to ignore me.
Also, if you put the toilet paper on one of those toilet paper stand holders, it wouldn't look that bad.
But again: You're waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better at this than I am, judging from the photos, so you should probably ignore me :) If I ever visit, I can't wait to pee in your weird, square little European wall toilet.
Also, that's probably the first time I've ever told someone I'm looking forward to urinating on their property, but there you go.

Well, managing contractors is always a unique challenge, no matter where you live. I think it turned out amazing, so obviously you managed them well! I *love* the grey glass!
NM, it's in stark contrast to the rest of our house which is obviously 1890, *lol*
Becky, come visit. We'll provide lots of (carbonated and tap) water.
Karen, I don't know what fusion is: ( Except for what Mr Burns calls a fallout incident: "We call it an unrequested fusion excess" (or something..)
Becky Bean, I want to put a plant on that half-wall. After it's done, if it ever is. We will probably get a regular tp holder, and an extra holder but both mounted on the wall. Everthing should be wall mounted except the garbage, I guess. Please come visit on your next European tour.
Colliefarm, I'm so glad you like the glass too! We scrape it fastidiously after every use.
I love it!! You did such a fantastic job! :D
Why does everything have to be wall mounted? Or is that just your preference? I bet it makes cleaning the floor so easy! Now you have me wanting a wall mounted toilet lol.
I love the glass too. I've never seen the gray glass before. Very cool.
Want to know what's funny? I always put out a towel for guest because I don't want them using my towel lol!!! :D
