Mara (and Bellis) photo shoot

I was pretty excited to see these photos, and have the chance to demonstrate how an ugly background can ruin some nice shots. I had no idea that the fence  - every single post - was crooked, including the wires, going every which way. And manure? *sigh* Now I see why my photographer friend was so hesitant to shoot there, and why she is always happy to lay down in the grass of my field (in the ticks).

She has never visited me during the Summer months, so she's never seen either of my horses without Winter coats.

I was surprised to see how brown Mara is. Last April she was bright orange. I like the brown and wonder if she'll be orange again in April, or if it's a diet thing. I'm giving her lots of vitamins right now, trying so hard anyway, she hates them.

I am glad I put Bellis' halter on Mara, because Mara doesn't have an Arabian face, and she needs an accessory. Just like I look better in glasses - they break up my face.

In the second to last photo Bellis is preparing to buck at Mara - she does it when Mara gets too rambunctious. The donkey may not be in charge, but she pretty much controls the horse simply because she's a donkey and therefore cleverer. Mara sometimes nips Bellis, "Darn it donkey, you tricked me again!"

I think they're BEAUTIFUL! (In spite of the fence.)
I like all of the head shots, and I love the one from behind, with Maral looking over her shoulder at the camera. The full shots are all very striking, as well. Sure shows off her Arab fire (especially compared to my lazy Paint slugs).
Very nice session.

ALL of the pictures are gorgeous, but I especially love the first four pictures of Mara. And of course I love the picture of Mara and Bellis!!

Mara is so gorgeous!! (Bellis too) I love them! My favorite is the one of her looking back at the camera. She moves like a typical Arabian. Nothing wrong with that for a photo shoot hehe.
