Bellis is doing fine. Thank you for your prayers. I am hearing overall less braying than when Ezra was here. She's not silent - so far she's brayed 4 times today (it's 4PM) but she's not braying like when Baasha died. I cannot help but anthropomorphize a bit - it's like she somehow understands that friends come and go in life. That is pretty far-fetched, but I have no other explanation about why she's taking this so well. She does spend more time in the stall and more time by the house, looking in our windows, just like Baasha when he was alone. I am totally spoiling her with massages and just hanging out with her.
Donkey grossness: Just like the donkeys at 7MSN, she likes to clean her ears on protruding objects. The wheelbarrow handle today. I laughed but the laughing stopped when I pushed the wheelbarrow later and got damp, sticky black earwax all over my hand. *shudder*
It suddenly turned Spring this weekend and it's very exciting. FINALLY. I will share pictures soon.
Tomorrow I drive to Hanover (again!) to look at another small chestnut Arab mare. This one seems very good from the email and phone call. She enjoys going on trails alone, she will leave other horses with no problem, and is healthy, and not prone to spooking. She's 145 cm, I think that's 14.2. She doesn't have a lot of Arabian type, but I always say to myself, I had the type with Baasha.

They are selling because she's an Arabian and not fit as a school horse and they run a school. She does fine with the experienced riders but she gets confused with beginners. The owner says she needs to be a "one-person" horse, that Arabians are too sensitive for riding schools. Amen.
Oh, and she's CHEAP. I asked and they say "platz vor preis" meaning the home is more important than the money. Talking to the owner, she said she has a particular expectation of what her owner will be like, and I fit the profile perfectly.
I felt bad for the kid getting the riding lesson during the phone call. Every few minutes she'd stop talking and shout "posting trot!" and "change hand!" I called when she said to, so that's just unfortunate for the student.
So tomorrow I drive that awful stretch of autobahn again alone in the Yaris and hope to find something to hope for. 6 hours driving. But if I don't do this, I'll never find a horse.
(The Prius is stuck in the company garage for the weekend (the self-parking automated garage) so everyone who drives got to take taxis home yesterday and back on Monday! That was a 65Euro taxi drive and I enjoyed every bit of it!)

Oh, she CUTE! But like you said, she looks like an "easy-keeper." Couldn't read the ad (it's Greek to me--or, I guess it's German...). But hse looks like she's got a pretty good "forward" gear. Good luck!

She is very cute! She looks typey to me, but I am not an Arab person. LOL She will look more typey if she lost some weight! Pretty cresty. More old style Arab. Hope she is as sweet as she looks!
She looks like a nice solid horse, and enthusiastic too. You could restrict the spring grazing if need be. I do hope that the trial goes well.
