Hay arrives last minute

OK we have 20 bales! Not good stuff, but at least it's something. It was our hay guy's dad who delivered and he really should retire from driving the big rig because he crashed into our front gate. *sigh*

When I say big rig I mean...oh dear, I wish I had a photo. This looks like a moving truck, not quite as long, but as tall. The ramp is the entire back of the thing, can you imagine? I wonder if Baasha would walk up that high, or he'd refuse the first time in his life. Inside was a normal looking slant load designed for very tall German horses. My man said, "What, no living quarters?" and then told him that in America, horse trailers sometimes have a LQ. The old guy had heard of this.

Yesterday I got caught in my pasture in an electrical storm and thought I would die. I actually left my wheelbarrow down there because I had to get to safety. I was trying to stay close to the trees. I could see lightning hitting the ground about a "block" away, on two sides of me. I was so scared! The summer storms here are incredible. We don't have 90F and lightning in Seattle. It was thundering while still sunny at one point.

OK it's 6:45AM and at 10 we will be driven to Cologne's Hauptbahnhof to take a train to Frankfurt. We're flying Lufthansa for the first time together, that should be nice. I am typically tired, couldn't sleep well, and grouchy from the thought of a total travelling time of 18 hours.(with an 11 hour flight) I hate long flights!!!

It will be worth it though. Family will take care of us when we arrive jet lagged out of our minds, and I'm hoping it's raining. I need a good stretch of cloudy cool weather!

Weather is currently overcast and 59. Forecast is for gradual clearing, highs in the low 70's.

IOW, should be just about perfect...unless you are trying to grow tomatoes.

We've been having weird summer electrical storms in Western WA this year- sometimes with no rain even! I can't believe it, it feels like I'm in Missouri or something. Welcome home, hope you enjoy your visit!
