Ideally they would have been turned out together, but we weren't at that point yet for the photographer visit. I just love these photos.

I'm Lytha from West Seattle, Washington. I moved to NRW, Germany in 2007 and married a wonderful German man who understands my love of horses and fulfilled my dream of living the last 2/3 of my life in the country, with my horse in my backyard.

Aww, she is so adorable :) Love those ears, they look so soft.
Mercer looks like she is on a mission though!
Great pictures... but Bad, Baasha! Bad! No mud!
crystal, perhaps you know this, but i didn't. in the photos my friend took, my cat is unrecognizable to me. she was apparently nervous about the camera, and this stranger lying on her belly in the tick-infested grass. my cat does not look like this, not when she looks at me or my husband anyway. how odd that cats can express distrust and show a "grouchy" face. i know there are many expressions in cats, but i never knew that simple distrust could make her look so ...ugly. this was the best of the lot. of course i wouldn't mention this to my friend.
becky, oh, thank you! yes, i was saying at the time, "How can you get so dirty on grass?" mole hills. moles are my nemeses, nemesises, nemesii,.....whatever. i will expunge them. illegally. at least, from my front yard, not the pasture, that would probably draw in the authorities. it is unfathomable that moles are a protected species, when they are obviously thriving in our crop/livestock pastureland. but i have a trap. and i love using it. i found it for sale clandestinely.
Great pictures.

Nice pictures of a beatiful (and clean) horse and a cute donkey. It's good that Baasha has company now. The donkey will grow on you.
Love the photos!!
Wonderful shots!
Awesome pix. Enjoyed the progression from clean Baasha to dirty Baasha :). Bellis is just to adorable for words. Love that big ol head and beautiful ears. She has such a peaceful expression.
She is beautiful! And, ya, the words oh bad Baasha, don't do that came to mind when I saw him rolling!
Mercer looks like she had a bad taste in her mouth....
I have three cats, one is friend of all who might step foot in the house. The other two, well, you will only catch a glimpse of them....if your lucky. One is a total momma cat, barely lets the DH ever touch her. but she sleeps by my head at night. Her sister, she loves me, loves my daughter, tolerates the DH a bit more then my girl, lol... none go outside, I do not allow this. Though, I have thought to put the friendliest one, out in the "barn"... I hate mice and rats!

Bellis is so pretty, and your photographer friend takes lovely photos!
I know what you mean about not recognizing your own cat, but for me it was when my cat was walking around on my bathroom counter, and I was looking at her in the mirror. I hadn't realized I knew her markings so well, but she definitely didn't look the same to me in reverse image!
Beautiful pictures!! Loving the donkey...so darn cute!
Love Bellis' stripey ears! They match Mercer!
Baasha is stunning. Donkey so focused on the grass. What a pair!
Such gorgeous photos! Baasha's spirit was captured beautifully. And I really like the photo of Bellis' nose in the grass. The little yellow flower accents the photo perfectly.
And wow! Mercer has the most gorgeous cat eyes I think I have ever seen. Sort of Egyptian looking, if that makes any sense.

Blogger ate my witty and insightful comment yesterday, so today I'll post the short version:
"Baasha looks awesome!"
Really, he does--he doesn't look anywhere near his real age.
Also:
"Bellis is adorable!"
If I didn't think the Dragon would incinerate one, I'd get a donkey!!!
whp - i hope she does grow on me because right now i'm out of my league.
camryn, i am tempted to call her "the big giant head" (william shatner's character in 3rd rock) but alas, she's a girl. she is peaceful in every way - her calm will hopefully rub off on baasha.
tara, someday i hope to have lots and lots of cats.
lisa, i'm glad you liked that close up photo with the serendipidous flower.
aarene, i must admit these photos hide his age. in fact michi saw baasha the first time in 2 years and she said "oh my, he's really showing his age now." (germans are so honest.) but i think bellis will bring some youth to him, he moves around a lot more now, and grazes more than ever, what i was waiting for. thank you so much for your nice comment. i love that fiddle can be alone, so independent. what a mare.
How old is Baasha? I noticed he still has black in his mane. I'm so fascinated with grays now that I have Chrome and I'm so curious how long it will take him to gray. Were both of Baasha's parents gray? How long did it take him to go completely (well almost) white? Would you maybe someday do a post showing his color progression in photos (if you have them, you've had him since he was two or so right?)? Sorry for so many questions. He's just so beautiful. :D
I love the pictures. I love Bellis' halter too. So cute!!
