Wish I'd have had the nerve to back up and get a photo of their whole house, but oh well.
You can guess what this means, right?
In Europe, a circular sign with red border means whatever is in the middle is not allowed. (It is equivalent to the red slash in America.)
I took this photo as I was walking to town. I wish I knew who lived here so I could have a talk with them.
Of all the countries Street View covers, Germany has to make a fuss, *sigh*.

Lots of people don't want themselves on Google street view, seeing it as a road map for thieves and stalkers. It is a bit disturbing how much you can learn about people online.
I'm not sure I'm keen on this myself. I will be thinking of you this afternoon, while the football is on!
Thank Goodness SOMEONE IS MAKING A FUSS!
What do you want to talk with them about?
How their PRIVACY is slowly being taken away? Yes
How ANYONE can find us now with technology the way it is. What happened to our home being our private place. A safe harbor.
Now anyone can see where & how we live.
IS IT ANYONES & EVERYONES BUSINESS.
Yes we love google for all the info we get.
BUT DON'T FORGET, EVERYTHING WE ASK google TO LOOK UP IS STORED. "No other search engine does this"
THIS IS GIVING google TOO MUCH INFORMATION ABOUT US.
And as lambs to the slaughter we are ALLOWING THIS.
But you say well I am a "fairly law abiding citizen", I have nothing to hide.
Sometime in the future this may change. Remember the Jews hiding in walls, attics, furniture, anywhere people could put them.
There also was DANGER for those that shared their homes TO PROTECT
OTHERS.
We are now living in a time when everything we DO, BUY, & GO, is stored on computer. We can be tracked anywhere in the world now.
Our habits are recorded all the time. First of course is by credit card purchases. Everything even down to knowing what kind of food we eat by those nice printed receipts from the grocery store.
Then of course the fun GPS systems,
soon they will be a standard item on all cars, tracking every where we go. Yes they are a good safety feature, that eventually will turn on us for sure.
WAKE UP PEOPLE, our freedoms are eroding right before us in the name
TECHNOLOGY !
I SAY google HAS TOO MUCH FREEDOM.
And isn't it great that from the country of Germany someone is standing up to invasion of privacy.
Someday this could be us in hiding from our invading enemies. Remember 9/11.
you've given the reasons that germany is against it - and i get their secret service issues (the stasi), but i miss my home and love being able to "walk" down my old sidewalk and see my old neighborhoods. i cannot fly there as often as i'd like. and all the places i'd like to visit, it helps to see them first to get an idea of the neighborhood. and people who can never see barcelona, for example, they can take a little tour now at their own pace.
mary i got to see what you did with your garden, i loved it. not your back garden - that's private - just the front. think of historic west seattle - i love looking at all those old homes, and i'm so glad someone took a camera around and wrote down the addresses so we can compare today with yesterday.
Our place is already on there. It kind of creeps me out though but it's great for when u need to find a place. Our lives are becoming less and less private. Im not so sure that is a good thing!
I looked at our old house (rented out) in NY and saw my tenants, their car, and one of their children: a 5 year old. I think Google is dangerous and that privacy is a right, not that we are marketing fodder (and I love Google, use it many times a day).
