This Sunday my area is in the news for the amount of snow we've had.
Today I measured 14 inches. My horse ventured out and got worried when he found himself over his knees. Here are some bird tracks under our feeder.
Northrhein Westfalia (our state) had 2,082 auto accidents in a 24 hour period this weekend. There have been some tragedies too. I won't post the photos of the accidents, they are horrible. But I am praying for those families.
For about 10 minutes yesterday, we had sunshine. It makes all the difference in this black and white world, to see a little color outside.
I shovelled huge snowpiles on either side of our driveway. They're almost as tall as I am. I wanted to put a sign out that says "Got Salt?" cuz there is a road salt shortage, but that joke wouldn't work here.
So I put a box of powdered sugar on top of one of the piles, to make people smile.
Free sugar!
My man and I had to move one of the piles, cuz I made them too close together and it was hard to get the car in and out. We took turns shovelling the heavy, wet snow.
This is the test of the greenhouse roof!
Baasha was drawn out of his stall by the sunshine, and went straight over to the walnut tree and started rubbing on it.
The fenceposts look funny with snow hats on: )
I set up a chair in his stall so I could enjoy the slow motion snowfall (I love the slow snow!).
He's really bored now.
What we have to look forward to tomorrow.....

That is a lot of snow. Horrible about all the accidents this weekend. Stay safe and warm.
P.S. Have you ever posted on how a girl from Seattle ended up in Germany with her man? Or is that too private? Sorry it's so curious to me.
Frau, I am going to do a FAQ for my sidebar. Stuff like Where does Baasha come from (region and pedigree) and What is Lytha doing in EUROPE!? She's one of those proud Americans!
Yes, I need to get workin on that FAQ. Thanks for asking!

That's a LOT of snow! Have you thought of "raking" the snow off of the greenhouse roof? Last winter Spokane WA was hit with terrible heavy snowfall, and roofs were collapsing everywhere--supermarkets, barns, homes. There quickly developed a cottage industry for shoveling off flat roofs and using long-handled "snow rakes" for the pitched ones.
Love the photo of the house with the little patch of blue sky behind.
Lytha it is a good think you enjoy shoeveling snow - looks like you have had plenty to shovel!!
Your photos look like greeting cards. So beautiful.
I think Evensong has a good idea about clearing off the greenhouse roof (though I recommend using a push broom as a tool instead of a rake). Houses in your region are probably built with snow load in mind, but maybe not that greenhouse. I know there were a lot of collapsed outbuilding roofs in our region last year when we had 2 feet of snow--we don't build for it because it "never" happens!
Snow is pretty, but be CAREFUL!
Oh boy you can keep that white stuff as far away from as possible..lol We had more snow fall overnight but Im guessing we only have a few inches..nothing like you have! Stay inside and keep warm!
So much snow and so little riding that can be done!
WOW...made me laugh with the powered sugar box stickin' out of that drift!
Glad it was a bit sunny and gave some blue to your skies dear!
