What's in my tack room (stall)

I have a tack room!

My very own, because my horse lives at home! This is something I still cannot get over. No locked locker full of my supplies (those lockers were never big enough, and always moldy), no extra walk to the also locked saddle area, it's all right there with my horse. I know, that's odd. How many people keep their saddle and bridle in their stall? Well, it works, so far, for me. Since this is our first winter, I expect to have to move the bridle and saddle into my man's office next door, cuz there is heat in there. (HMMM I wonder if he will mind if I keep a wet saddle blanket in there too?)

This table thing used to be a rabbit hutch, so it is annoyingly unlevel, but works. If we get another horse, we will attach hinged doors to the front of it again.

Baasha's hay trough. I am so proud of myself for sawing all those boards, and screwing them in with about 200 screws. I can sit on the edge of it, it is heavy duty! And eating head down is best. My man insisted that there be rubber mats underneath, I guess so if Baasha ever hits bottom with his mouth, it will be soft, hehehe.

It is a 4 rabbit system, converted to storage for horsey stuff. (My sister in law offered me some rabbits last week and I really thought about it!) Anyway, here we go:

Lower right, Biolan pellets. That green tub and green bag are full of bedding pellets. So far, no rodents have attacked the bag. So far, hehe.

Lower left: My man asked if he could keep some firewood in the stall. I gave him one rabbit section, *giggle*. And that Western Family plastic grocery sack is hanging there ready for garbage (mostly used qtips from Baasha's daily eye cleaning).

Upper left: Those pad things are lawn furniture padding, for the chairs I sit on in the pasture so I can be comfortable when staring at my horse. They have been brought in for the Winter, in considerably worse condition than last Spring. Also in this section are fly spray which I use daily (still!) and Show Sheen, and a salt water container for his fetlocks (I have found that it helps with scratches). You can barely see it, but a toothbrush sits on a container of betadine water for hoof scrubs. Also a big bottle of vinegar is for hoof washing. There is also a pile of clean towels, cuz I always seem to need towels around my horse.

The important stuff: hoof rasps, grooming kit, and big tub full of stuff. Gloves for hoof trimming are on the top, cuz I use them so often.

You might not have noticed, but almost everything in here is from America. That is because I know what I like, and I don't want to spend a fortune testing which German products work and which do not. (Also, in Germany, the horse stuff does not have to include an ingredients list, so you cannot know what exactly you are buying. I'll play safe, I'll shop when I'm in America, making customs work extra hard with my luggage.)

In my supply tub are lots of practical things.

Eye cleaning solution and lots of qtips.
Hoof knife and hoof knife sharpener.
Fence tester (the one item bought in Germany in this container.)
Keratex hoof sole hardener.
WD40 for the rasps.
Quicsilver.
Latex gloves.
Clicker.
Compasses (What? Compasses? Why? I guess cuz they always were there.)
Equispot.
Laser Sheen.
Betadine.
Neosporin (LOTS.)
Lubricating Jelly (along with latex gloves, for sheath cleaning.)
Winter shedding curry.
Gloves.
Blue twine (my homemade weight tape.)
Rubber bands (in case I feel like braiding.)
More purple shampoo.
Vet wrap.
Bute.
Thermometer.

Wow, I have the urge to go thru a horse catalog and buy stuff to add to my collection! Just kidding, hehehehe.

Thank you Nuzzling Muzzles for starting this thread. I hope more people share what they have in their supply area!

Lytha, the danger with your very own tack room is how much stuff you start to acquire, at least that is what happened to me once I had a whole tack room to myself. I could literally open a tack store at this point with my saddle and bridle collection alone. I also have two sets of shelving crammed full and two large tack trunks crammed full as well. ANd this is just MY stuff, not things sent by boarders. Eek!

Hmmm, Melissa PF is correct--the problem with having my own tack room is that I've got room to put more stuff! Right now the trailer is full of stuff, the haybarn is full of stuff, and one of the small outbuildings is starting to accumulate stuff. Uh-oh.

I'll try to continue the thread at Haiku Farm this week. It might be kinda embarrassing, though!

Does Baasha stand in there with all that stuff and not mess with it? Every time the farrier comes, I have to protect his tote and the back of his truck, because the horses (especially Bombay) will start digging through them to look for some interesting toys.

Gosh...Maddy would have that stuff spread everywhere and opened. She loves to pick up her brushes and hand them to me and is always trying to open her doors. She turned on a faucet two weeks ago and flooded a stall. Baasha must appreciate and take care of his things unlike my girl:-)

I'm lucky cuz Baasha is not a mouthy horse. I realize most horses would mess with that stuff!

This makes automatic waterers a problem, he is not mouthy enough to figure them out, and when I try to help him, he is afraid of the water rushing out. Most barns in Germany use automatic waterers, for some reason. (We don't.)

I covet your tack room. I know y'all will laugh when you see how my stuff is stored.

You are lucky Baasha leaves everything alone! Emma would have every last thing on the floor, just to see if there was food in it and promptly walk all over everything too!

That is great...yours looks like mine at my PBO...they made me tack shelving like that too. I already have so much stuff and it allows me to have more...but I divide it all between the trailer and the tack room.

Is it true...he resides WITH all that stuff...oh my mare would have eaten or tried to most of it..she is sooo toddler like...everything goes in the mouth!
B is amazing me, more and more!
