Pony party, part 3

The Guys' Turn

Waiting for their turn. My man finally conceded when a couple other husbands or fathers also gave in to the pleas that they also compete.

Some teenaged girls showed up near the end, they wanted to try out the tests unofficially. One other horse had a rider license, we weren't the only ones.

I think they had fun! Here is my man carrying the flag around.

Here is Ingo tossing plastic horseshoes that his smiling wife hands him. He opted for his firehelmet instead of a riding helmet!

My man rides across the tarp. Tarps are no challenge, but if there had been a water hazard.....

Trying to get Baasha aligned next to the laundry line.

Most clever was my man's idea to cover Baasha's eye while shooting that water pistol. He knew none of the horses liked that gun, and he had seen Baasha leap away during my attempt. So he asked me to hold Baasha, and covered one eye with one hand, and shot the thing with the other. It didn't really work, but got a good laugh. That water pistol tested every single horse! I felt so bad for poor Troll, whose rider shot him directly in the ear! Poor pony almost fell down trying to escape!

The awards area. I appreciated that they had apples and carrots mixed in with the trophies, cuz the horses deserve a reward too.

My man took a little ride through the woods, and I was paranoid Baasha would be bad so I ran along beside them.

I hugged Kerstin and told her how happy it made me that the guys rode. The men all said how they were "forced" into it, but I know they were all laughing too.

Afterwards we had bratwurst, waffles, and Ingo and I had a Schwelmer Beer, the good kind! We stayed late talking to them, and I hope they know how much we enjoyed it! We will bring them something special as a thank you for such a fine party.

On the way home, my man surprised me and said he would have liked to have ridden Baasha home, but I had put the saddle on loosely, and then that cooler over the top, because it looked like rain.

I was pretty happy to hear he enjoyed himself and apparently wanted to get another chance to ride.

I got an award just for participating!

What a fun time! I know Mr. Fry would like to ride, but he has an artificial hip joint that we can't jeopardize. We call him the million dollar man :-)

What a great day!!! Baasha looks like he had a blast, and it is SO great to see Your Man riding too. Hmmm... might there be another special horse in the future for you two, so you can ride together? ;)

OH YES, you should get your man a horse too! Then you could ride together, it really is the best thing!

He looks so sweet on Baasha. What a great man your man is.

I laughed at Ingo's fire helmet--do adults wear helmets routinely in Germany? Sometimes American adults can be so stupid about their heads, I just despair....

This sounds like so much fun! And how weird is it that you've clearly made some great new horse friends via that scary bridge incident? Baasha looks to have been pretty impressive competing. He is really into it!

Your Man looks great on Baasha. I bet it warms your heart seeing them together like that having fun. That one photo in the woods, Baasha looks so young! And was it cold? I see that your Man is all bundled up. Brrrr!
Congrats on the trophy, too!

Leah, heheh, the million dollar man, I love it. I watched that show, and the Bionic Woman too.

Mrs Mom, that would be my dream...

Aarene, I guess if I buy him one, he will have to love it, huh? Just need a job!

Flying Lily, that is exactly what those people I met always say! They even have an idiom in German for this situation, "Glueck in Unglueck" which means A Blessing In Disguise.

Lisa, oh, it really did touch my heart, I kept grinning so big! And it was a slightly cool, windy day, so all the Germans were wearing thier entire closets. I even wore gloves and a scarf!

I think it would be the neatest if your man could find a horse to go outing with you and yours??!!
