Just because she loves Arabians, I got an impromptu photo shoot from a professional photographer who lives nearby. I am so happy to have met her! She works for state studs all over Europe, photographing their horses, most often the Arabian stables in Spain. She is especially fond of Egyptian Arabians, and I told her, well, Baasha is only 75% Egyptian.
4 generations back in Baasha's pedigree, I see two Crabbet horses. Here is the proof of the mixing of the two lines. (As I wrote this, my Math teacher husband just came in and pointed out that Baasha is actually 7/8ths Egyptian. Good grief, how many years did it take for me to learn this?) (And he asked the same question I have always had: If Crabbet horses came from Egypt, why aren't they still Egyptian?)
My friend the photographer works and travels the world with Gabrielle Boiselle. Gabrielle Boiselle is the Bob Langrish of Germany. You know Langrish photos from those horse calendars they sell at the mall, and those big hefty Horse Encyclopedias we all have. I always thought Langrish did an OK job, but he doesn't focus on the Arabians like Boiselle does. Do they make an easier subject to capture beauty? From looking at her website today, I think so.
Straight out of camera. I had told her how I hate retouching, making both people and horses look more beautiful than they actually are, I find that dishonest.
I really hate having my picture taken, can you tell? The bigger the camera, the worse. I was remembering my wedding, how I kept running away from the photographer, and he was determined to catch me on film (good thing he was crafty!). Since these are impromptu photos, Baasha's got a winter coat. Had I known, I would have at least worn some make up, and gloves that fit!
Baasha has a lifelong habit of not posing for cameras, of looking bored no matter what exciting new thing we use as a prop to get him to look alive. My friend used a reflector, which is a large disk of reflective material, that both brings light from below, and gets horses to "look". Baasha was bored by it, even though he has never seen such a thing. *sigh* If only someone had brought that donkey over! Oh well, we decided to do cuddly photos, because he would not cooperate.
In some photos you can see the reflection of the reflector disk in his eye. My man was holding it. She said he did a great job, making the weather look brighter than it was.
I look forward to seeing the rest of the pictures when I get the disk (and I will be cropping myself out of the photos!).

You both look fabulous! Thanks for sharing!
Oh. Wow.
What an incredible gift!!! And if you crop yourself out, when you get here to the Southland someday, I'll remember (because there will be a sticky note to remind me,) to grump at you! LOL You two are beautiful together!!!
Baasha is such a hunk! ;)
How wonderful to get some photos of the two of you together! Those are lovely photographs! I really like how Baasha's forelock is striped. He is so white and his mane is such a beautiful gray mixture!
You are more beautiful than you think you are, I suspect. But I have no doubt that you have Baasha's beauty in perspective.
It's funny how I can see a horse and my heart goes pitter-patter, then I see a good looking man and I think, "Oooh, get that stinky animal away from me." Hee hee.
I think you both look GREAT in those pictures!
Beautiful photos Lytha!
Dont crop yourself out of all the new ones! LOL I hate having my picture taken too. :0)
Aw Lytha you both look great! I love the contrast of your (beautiful) auburn hair and Baasha's bright grey coat. He looks like he's made of velvet :)
Fabulous photos, you both look awesome. Yay!

"Please don't tell me that my horse looks like the abomidible snow monster".
Wow you both look FANTASTIC!! there will be no cropping allowed! I'm so envious of your haircolor!
Those photos are absolutely gorgeous. BOTH of you look great. Every time I see pics of Baasha it makes me want to grow out Caspian's bridle path. He came to me with it, so I've kept it up, but I'm conflicted about it. ;) How cool of your friend to take these pics of you...hope you'll share the rest! :)
How gorgeous! You are a lovely pair, suitable for your very own calendar!
No...no....no, Lytha. You said you didn't like the dishonesty of post-editing of photos. You want your photos straight-out-of-camera. That means no cropping! :)
Leave the photos as they are. You and Baasha look gorgeous together.
