Making trails

My man and Baasha and I went on another walk to make trails for OpenStreetMap.org.

Baasha tugged at the line, trying to get us moving faster. He was completely alive and happy to take us for a walk. And, happy to drop his head into the grass, even when a herd of sheep approached and tried to get him to look up.

My man had the Garmin up high, waiting for the perfect cooperation of many satellites. Baasha learned that sometimes we let him go ahead, and wait for him, cuz he comes back. (This field had crop circles drawn into it! I swear!)

Sometimes it was too much for Baasha, and he strained against the leadrope, "Can't we go catch him now?"

His bare feet left barely a trail on the paths we were not sure were actual trails. We marked them anyway, because there were no Keep Out signs.

I still never have my camera with me when I see those bright red Alice in Wonderland mushrooms. But, I saw some other mushrooms that looked nice.

An apple tree dropped the most delicious apples for us. I kept one hidden in my pocket for the way home as a surprise. My horse tends to think that the Garmin is a snack (What else could he be holding so becomingly? Baasha thinks), so I handed my man the apple to feed Baasha.

At the top of a hill we found a grove of trees so majestic, I stood there a long time with them.

It is a beautiful time of year, nicht wahr?

Jawohl, very pretty indeed!

My horse is sure that the camera is a snack. Why else would I hold on to it so dearly and be so interested in it? Silly horses!

Your horses are nuts.

My horses are sure that cameras and Garmins are PREDATORS!!! Also cell phones, and any other food-sized object that makes a noise and has a light.

Run away! Run away! Run aw....oh hey. You has cookies in dat pocket? Why you didn't say you has cookies?

What a beautiful place to ride.

Those photos are beautiful, are any of the trails ones you plan to ride on?

re your golf course dream: my friend's uncle and dad accidentally rode onto a snooty golf course when her uncle still lived in Alberta. Of course it was winter so they didn't get caught but they made sure to tell everyone! lol

and re the other quarter horse clubs. I'm pretty sure that most (if not all) of the province's here have an offshoot AQHA club (ie SQHA for us in Saskatchewan) and also APHA offshoots.

That forest looks magical. Love the mushroom photo! How did the Garmin do at remembering the trails?
