I was jealous cuz I hardly have any pics of me riding, and lately NuzzlingMuzzles has her family members take photos of her hitting the trails. So I talked my man into a walk tonight, and we went out as a family. Boy, Girl, Horse with mask. His eyes took another turn for the worse tonight, and one is swollen shut again. The vet was here yesterday, and I am armed with a huge array of meds, and a new bottle of saline. I knew it would feel good if I could give it a saline rinse, so that is what I did tonight.
Anyway, back to our ride. Baasha was sure he had never seen a donkey before, again, and stopped and stared and tried to get as far away as possible. I touched the donkey's nose, so sweet and small! and wished I could touch more of him through the fence. His feet need a rasp desperately!
My man found a good spot to hide a geocache, and I am happy cuz once it is hidden, I can bring the pony party people there and let them find their first!
Baasha was impatient and his eye was itching, so he kept trying to rub his face on us. My man had a stockpile of carrots in his pockets that he surprised us with. He makes Baasha "pose" for a carrot now, after seeing those pics of Arabians with their necks stretched in AHW.
I jumped on in a pretty field, just for a few minutes we took the mask off for a photo. Baasha felt like he was gonna buck, he kept hopping with his backend, but later I found a huge horsefly on him, which left a stream of blood on his leg. Nasty! I am relieved it was not me he was trying to dislodge.
Baasha's feet and legs are feeling better today, what a relief. Last week he was gimpy being led around, and tonight he was better. The doctor has ordered much handwalking, and that is what we're doing.
After our 5 minute photo shoot, the mask went back on, I brushed that horsefly off, and we meandered home. My man found another spot for another geocache, and I was happy. I kept offering him to ride, after his falling off recently, but he was too interested in his garmin I think.
We were a family strolling through our new neighborhood, and the nice lady with the terrier walked us home, talking all the while with my man about politics and when will the construction finally end this detour through our street? Whenever they talk, it's like Blah Blah Blah. Their German is way better than mine.
Oh no, do your eyes hurt from those colorful pics? Here is a normal one.

That first picture in the field is beautiful! Sorry to hear that the eye saga continues :(
Those are beautiful pictures! I'm glad your hubby is walking with you. Maybe one day he'll want to ride too??
Sorry to hear that Baasha is having such a run of medical problems.
Yes, NZ has inspired us to do some more pictures of round penning too!
I wish we had some of that color here.
Poor Baasha. I had hoped you were past the worst of it...
Melissa and I are *VERY* familiar with the eye saga, having been there twice with our own horses in the past year. The problem is that any sort of eye injury takes forever to heal...
My son says to send his sympathies to your man for having to tag along and take pictures. Oh well... at least he held out on having a bad attitude through to the end of summer. I tried to get him to go trail riding with me this morning. He refused, but then we awoke to rain, so we couldn't go anyway. At least he picked a good weekend to refuse.
Too cool Girlfriend! Great pics!!!
I love the thought of your man walking with you...I am trying to get mine out for this too..with the horse..have not convinced him as yet!
Darn...I was soo praying that B eyes had healed.
KK
PS..I normally resort to self photo's and a tripod!
Sounds like you are going through the same thing with Baasha's eye that I am with Jaz's itchies. I have a whole shelf devoted to products that haven't worked or only worked for a short time.
Great pix, and I also enjoyed the previous story about the hippies, being an old one myself.
Wow!!! Look at all of those lavender flowers!!! You and Baasha look absolutely, positively, smashing!!! :)
Melissa, Breathe, and Melanie, oops, those are not flowers, those are effects I did to the photos using the Gimp (free photoshop). Oops. I feel stupid now, cuz I thought I had made it obvious that they were faked! (blush)
FV, He used to ride when I had my lease mare! In fact our first ride was 5 hours long, but he did not mind cuz we were riding and geocaching at the same time. On our walk last week I kept offering him to climb on, but he was looking at his GPS most of the time, scouting out spots for geocaches.
Jason, Thanks. Every day is a question mark for me. Better or worse....today is another good day, where his eyes are fully open. Praying!
NM, I debated on sharing your message with my man, but later did. I climb so many hills around here with him alone, he needs to know that sometimes I need to bring my horse along. We were out hiking around for hours last night without Baasha, and of course the whole time I wished my horse was there. But at least my horse is in Germany. I spent way too long here, a year! dreaming of the day when Baasha could join us.
Kacy, your man does not want to join yet? Oh dear! Is he a mountain biker? I have ridden my horse along mountain bikes with people who don't ride horses and the horse really has fun with the bike, racing it and such.
My timer on my camera is too short, I only have 10 seconds to back up, and that is never enough to get in position with the horse. (snap)
Leah, I had to LOL about your shelf, cuz you know I have one too now! Itchies, I have never had to deal with that. Horses in Germany often suffer Summer Ezcema, and wear full body suits. Those poor horses look ridiculous, but I guess they must if they want outside.
Ha ha I just read the message you left me. You can get turkeys in Germany! infact K+K sells them for about 20 euros and they are good sized..be warned though, they are not like they are in the U.S. They are slight tough and gamey. I bought one in the netherlands and spent 45 euros on a 25 pounder and he was so old,way passed his prime. He tasted gamey. A friend bought one in germany and complained about the same thing so just keep that in mind..lol Im doing either a huge chicken or ham.
Turkish shops have a bunch of stuff too..I bought polenta meal and make cornbread with it. I also found cheap extracts and what not there. I know of the bbq sauce you mentioned..we have that here in our Tokos and a few stores aswell! LOL Im so glad you found cilantro! I cant find it here either. I got all excited when I saw the Heinz bbq sauce in germany..ack it tastes nothing like we are used to. I did buy the Miracle Whip they sell there just for a change..lol
