I'd just returned from a ride that I think was virtual, but it felt real, and heard a tractor roar through our gate. I grabbed my camera and ran for the field.
It is hay flipping day! If we're lucky, this is gonna be honest-to-God HAY and not the abomination called silage. I think we're lucky, cuz so far so good - no precipitation and none expected.
I waved to Carsten as his tractor passed me by. I stood in the safety of the grazing strip. Then I tought, Gee, I wonder how Baasha is handling this? So I made my way down the field, snapping pics like a tourist.
Whew, Baasha was grazing as if nothing was happening. No loud clattering tractor swirling hay up and fluffing it.
I was proud of my boy, I can imagine some horses would not put up with that. (Tractors are loud - if you watch, you'll probably want to turn your volume down.)
I'd stuck Baasha in the back corner under the oak trees cuz he avoids that area and there is a lot of untouched grass there. He really hates that spot, cuz it's low, there's a creek right there, and it's the furthest point from the barn. But after our virtual ride, he was hungry.
In this video you can hear me say Baasha's name. I was mumbling to myself because it was such a novel experience for me! (Warning - this is also quite loud - not unlike the sound of an airplane taking off.)
This completes my documentary of hay fluffing - I was so impressed how Carsten handles that tractor - he comes right up against our Tposts and step-in posts and doesn't touch them, getting as much hay as possible. In this video, he is driving backwards for some reason, and then resumes. Every time he passed me, I noticed he was looking at the hay, good, I don't want him to know how many pics I took. I'm undoubtedly his only field owner who stands out there with a camera and documents his work!

Cute!
Tell about your "virtual" ride....and come on our "virtual trail ride", okay? I want to "ride" on your trails in Germany!
Baasha didn't mind that hay machine, because he is old and smart, and knows that it is making food for the winter...lol!!! :)
