Lulu commented that she mows AND weed whacks along and under her fenceline to keep the grass off the electric wire.
Our fence is buried in grass. Not very atractive for a fence that was purchased for its looks a couple months ago.
That's better. Now we're fully familiar with this task - my man and I spent 3 hours weed whacking and mowing along our fenceline and under it.
You can actually see the bottoms of the posts! My man did the hard part - the weed whacker is a little bit too much for me.
Baasha looks so tiny out there. See that raincloud? I got a picture of the rain when it arrived. Funnily, you can get by in Seattle without owning an umbrella. However, here in NRW, umbrellas are absolutely necessary. My man is fond of straightening out the facts for people - although Seattle has more rainy days per year than most cities, it has less accumulated rainfall than cities like NY. And NRW, Germany: )
New blooms in the yard.
I gave away half the fuschias that came with this house (they wintered in the basement) and I am starting to be glad I kept some of them: )
Any plant that has to come inside for the winter is too labor intensive for me, but I think I can handle a few. Ideally all my plants would be in the ground instead of in pots. But to plant and replant every 6 months, that's too much work; these fuschias can live in pots. That means I have to be very careful about watering, and I am worried I'll screw it up. These are seriously old fuschias - they have tree trunks even. I hope I can manage to keep them alive.
In brilliant sunshine we had a rainstorm - it was incredible! And the next day too, it showered with a fury. Exactly what our field needs - it's greener already.

Baasha must be beside himself with so much room!
We could use some of that wonderful rain here, the Texas drought is intense. I come here to reveal in the beautiful green on your blog. Thanks for the beautiful pictures!
I love that photo of Baasha in the field! That's one I'd have enlarged and framed. The colors are amazing.
You have an award on my blog!
Breathe - Oh, thank you! I noticed today that it's greener since the heavy rain, yay! You're in Texas? Oh, I hope I can show my man Texas soon! My dad was born there and it's just so important.
Jenn - Really? I want it to turn green again!
Kate - Thank you - I answered in your comment box because I don't normally play these things but your answers were just too interesting and familiar: )
Baasha looked so cute in those pictures out in the field! I myself am too wimpy to handle a weed whacker, and I'm just fine with that. :)
Oh..to have a handsome horse that felt assured in any part of the field like that!
I caught Wa standing in the direct sun in a corner of her not as large as yours filed...because she may view the other mare from there..I saw three areas of shade too...with nice grass to eat. No deal!
I LOVE that picture of him!!
Nice plants and fence looks so tidy..that'll do it for a while huh..see what it looks like when you return from the states!
See ya later!

Melissa - I'm glad I'm not the only one. I absolutely insisted that we own one and recently went to the hardware store and spent a long time comparing models and paid a lot of money for this thing. It's disappointing to me that I'm intimidated by it! Not just the noise (we wear ear protection) but the fact that it splatters you with tiny shards of grass. And since you're supposed to use it when it's dry, it's normally sunny, and I don't want to wear a full-body protection suit, so I get pelted by bits of plants all over, usually I have to EMPTY my bra afterwards. Also, I have insect fear, so when a bug flew at me while I was using it, and I jumped around waving my arms like a maniac, I realized in my panic that I'd forgotten I had a weed whacker attached to me. Kind of dangerous! If I'm attacked by a bug while mowing, I can just let go and it turns off. All of this has caused me to implore to my man to please be in charge of the weed whacking here. Thankfully he was talked into it: ) Now my lawn mower is my favorite tool - it's soooo much easier and safer for me to use.
Kacy - It's interesting to me to watch Baasha get accustomed to various areas in the field. At first he avoided areas, but now he's braver. I thought he'd stand at the gate and stare at the other horses a lot, but he's often found on the top of one of the hills, surveying all the land: ) I even found him hidden in the trees, getting out of the sun. I'm so glad he's exploring!
You're right - what's gonna happen here when we're gone? I showed our housesitter the lawn mower - I hope she uses it!
...through our bridge accident, I suddenly find myself with riding friends!).
