I love riding a barefoot horse in the snow. Look, traction and no ice balls! Here's Baasha spotting someone riding a Haflinger on a trail nearby. I told him, "I'm taking a pic. Look cute!" and he obliged: )
The snow made stripes on the trees. It's snowing again tonight, a lot, so I may not make it to the barn tomorrow.
We cantered up the snow-covered sheep field, it was so fun! Baasha found a bit of grass in the snow. You can see how thick his bunny fur is now: )

I can't get over how similar Baasha and Bo look...especially in the snow...lol!!!! What breeding is he? Bo's real name is Cabalero SF, and he is Polish and Egyptian (I actaully prefer Crabbet, but beggars can't be choosers...lol!!)
Speaking of snow, look at all of it!! How cool!!! I was reading your post below about Baasha being confused and trying so hard to figure out what you wanted, that he starting pulling out old tricks. What a smart boy!!!
Baasha is 75% Egyptian and 25% Crabbet. I put him on allbreedpedigrees recently:

He was born in Auburn, WA at a farm called Saarem Al-Najma. The owner died of E-coli a few years ago. I wish I could have asked her where all his brothers and sisters ended up. Maybe when fugly has her search site up I'll find them again.
When I met Baasha, I didn't know horses could be so personable. They were all friendly, those Arabs, but he was so loving, I had to have him. But I was a city kid, all I knew was from books and horse camp. I had to learn everything. The lady spent three months teaching me how to train him, and taught me everything I needed to know. I was the first person to lay across his back, and eventually sit on him: ) He was 3, I was 18. Green horse, green rider, it was a scary time: )
Ha!! Bo is from a farm that used to be located between Auburn and Enumclaw, called Smith Farm Arabians...hence the "SF" on his name.
Small world, isn't it??
Maybe they are related seeing as how they are close to being the same age, and came from the same area?
Beeeeth.... you were 16. *rolls eyes* :)
-yer sis
I love a snowy trail ride! It is magic.
I have seen Baasha's grandfather, Sakr, in the Nationals so many times!! I loved him in Native Costume! What a horse!

I love riding in snow but in my old age I'm starting to prefer it warmer.
FV, you saw Sakr in RL? That is so cool. Thank you for finding those photos! I have never seen many of them. I also was trying desperately to find one of those photos for my very first blog entry, cuz it was Sakr on the cover of AHW and that was my introduction to Arabians, oh, you should go back and read my first blog entry here. That photo of Sakr with the multi-colored tassels, galloping toward the camera, that is the one I wanted to use on my first blog entry.
(Is it a fauxpas to type Sakr's name without the three +'s???*giggle*)
THANK YOU!
Ooops! Sakr without the three +++. yes, it's sacrilegious, I'm sure. After all, he earned his championships!
It's a beautiful ride. Baasha has a strong fur. He is beautiful.
